Im a newbie with some questions
If, like me, you either have to be VTEC'n or spending money on your S I would recommend dress up and maintenance items only. Performance enhancing mods do one of two things: move the car even further up the performance spectrum from your previous car (not a good idea); or bugger all.
Things you might consider are:
MuZMaT to protect the rear window (02??)
MuZMaT carpets to protect the floor
Clear side markers??
Voodoo or Muz shift knob
Console cover
New stereo
Definitely new speakers if you appreciate music whilst driving
See, I've totally solved your problem of 'too much money'!

What seems to have changed is that many more people have come around to my point of view that there is little to be gained and much to be lost trying to mod the S2000 for more "performance". I have yet to see anyone (in over two years now) post a 20 HP increase dyno plot without forced induction or increased displacement and there has been a whole lot of money spent.
So all of a sudden my "Un-popular" opinion has become a bit more popular and I am not standing alone defending it anymore.
Well.. for starters, thanks for all the congrats. In refrence to the person who said to wait 11 years before I even think about mods, I think I will definately wait a long time.. maybe not quite 11 years though
The suggestion to take a performance driving course is definately a good one I had not thought about. Finding one in west Texas may be a bit more challenging however. I dont plan on being a speed freak(well.. maybe just once or twice). I just loved the way the car looked combined with the fact that you couldnt drive through an intersection in town and see 1 or 2 of them every time, unlike the mustangs, camaros etc.. I also definately love the power (sheesh.. I can actually pass someone haha).
