That is the same thinsulate around the shifter (it's a strip on it's side). I ordered 50 sq ft of the SM600L (too much) and just started stuffing it everywhere.
I later removed the thinsulate around the shifter and installed a new OEM foam piece when re-greasing the shifter.
Edit: The new foam piece and the thinsulate are both still in there.

Awesome, thanks for that. I guess I need to pull my center console up as I don't recall a foam piece under there, but it's been a while since I've looked in there.
I don't know if it is one piece or two. I didn't remove the clips under the dash and just rolled it up into the floorboard.
These pics are from my install.
I can still see the waffle pattern in the nico or dynamat stuff you used. You're supposed to roll it until those lines disappear. That is how you know its adhered properly.
Its not about if it comes off or not, its needed to make it work. It adds mass to damp vibrations by changing resonant frequency. If its not stuck down it won't work.
You also don't need anywhere near that much. Anything more than 25% coverage isn't doing anything except adding weight and taking up space (and costing money).
You apply it to center of large panels. You can divide a larger section into areas, especially areas with reinforcements or beads, and apply to center of each area.
Ok, so I got my new speakers for Christmas, the 26 square feet of Siless sound deadener came early this week, 50 square feet of the AU4002-5 Thinsulate insulation came yesterday so I'm ready to do this thing, hopefully start this week. I also have a shifter isolator coming but I can start without it. Thinking I'll probably do doors, then floors, than trunk If I have enough materials.. if not I'll do the trunk later.
