Youth is mental.
Maybe it's my 1947 vintage, but spoilers, side strakes, aftermarket exhausts and cold air intakes just don't light my fire.
But offer me an SSM, and I'll open my wallet fully.

Thanks for the link. If that's the best explanation they have to offer its not satisfactory, but it is time to move on.
The lesson in this thread for everyone is simply, "Think before you speak."
'43 was a bad year as well! Must be 'War baby Syndrome,' compensating for all that rationing maybe!
Hmmmm..... this doesn't seem to be a casual affair now Barry, you've been talking about this for a while. Seems serious to me, perhaps you just ought to stop dithering and go do it!
Well, at least we agree that there's much more worth discussing than how people choose to dress up their cars. I think this drivel is cabin fever talking, mostly. We're having a long winter here in the east coast of the US.
It seems we also agree about each other taking things the wrong way. I was trying to tell you that the Columbia tragedy hits some of us hard because of how it affects our collective psyche. We have dreams of going to space, of being explorers, of taking that glorious ride off our own rock. The loss of a shuttle mission rips away at our dreams, Aus.
As I said, it's not a numbers game. It's not a question of how many astronauts died vs. how many commuters. And, surely I didn't mean to discount the tragedies you're talking about. I just don't view them in the same light; it has nothing to do with "thinking about it," Aus.
Besides, what's the point of trying to rationalize grief? The world is full of awful things. On this I'm sure we (yet again) do agree. The best we can do is commiserate and try to work through it.
Best wishes.

Rick...just apologize and end this post of yours before you lose even more business. Set an example to all members by staying neutral. You are a sponsor and should be held to a higher standard.
This post has been viewed over 5500 times. Great advertising. The way this post is going, I'm just waiting for the Boycott Rick's Accessories post to start. Way to shoot yourself in the foot!

Rick, I'm surprised you'd want to open a discourse on the "do's and don'ts" on modifying, or as should be worded "personalization" of owner's cars. Your business that bears your namesake does just that "mods." Yes, it does come across hypocritical to say "stay true to the original form" and yet sell your line of personalization products. You've delineated in words and photos of such "examples" you see as indecorous - all that being YOUR subjective opinion (which is insulting to some). Also it's insulting to those who have such products and the majority of sponsors of S2ki that sell these products that owners adorn to their cars.
Your second point is valid. I've been a member and sponsor for a while now. It's difficult for me to find the time to browse the threads due to other priorities. However, I have seen a decline in quality postings; Some are pointless, others superfluous.
A car especially like ours makes a statement in any form that it's in.
