I drove from Maryland to Florida on Sunday and drove back on Thursday. Drove down in one day and back in one day. Approximately 980 miles each way.
1. I saw exactly one other s2k in all that time on the road. A Spa Yellow. He waived.
2. I stopped counting Miatas after I reached a dozen. One male drive and eleven female drivers.
3. I was very concerned about getting half way down and regretting taking my s2k due to noise or comfort. Both concerns were unfounded. I was not bothered by the sound and the seats were surprisingly comcortable. I really had no ill efects associated with the setas. I thought they provided good back support. I would not hesitate again over taking my s2k for any trip length.
4. Best gas mileage was 32 worst was 27. Since I drove straight through it was easy for me to calculate my average mph. Going down, the average over a 14 hour trip was 70MPH (that includes stops for gas). Coming back was considerably slower due to road construction along the way.
5. More looks and comments than you can shake a stick at. Like many, before I bought my s2k I was looking at several other choices. I am so thankful I ended up making the right choice. This trip has solidified my position on the s2k as follows:
Surprisingly comfortable
Surprisingly fast
Surprisingly agile
Surprisingly fast
Drop dead gorgeous
Surprisingly fast
Great trip!

Just took mine from Wash, DC through New York into CT and on to Boston and back over the weekend. What a blast. I used to hate that trip... not anymore I did have my maintenance light flash at me a little bit when I got close to home, but then it went away. I put about 1000 miles on it, so I'm up to 6000 total now. I honestly think the thing is driving better and better as I go. Could this be my imagination?? Oh, and the cold? Fuhgetta bout it!! Top down the whole way

I did a good ten hour trip last weekend, and I liked it alright, but I couldn't stand hitting all of the bugs. It pained me to stop for gas and look at the damage done to the 2k by the thousands of little bugs on the front spoiler. I had to take the window washer and wipe them off the best I could.

Sounds like a fun trip. 980 miles in a day is some pretty serious driving.

You know, 980 seems like a lot (and it is), but when your alone it goes by reasonably well. Two weeks ago, my wife and I took a trip of 400 miles (one way). I was at least as tired after that trip as I was after the 980 miles. I found it was very wearing on my ears and senses to consistently have to talk and try to listen above the elevated engine/transmission/wind noises.
With no one to talk to, it all seemed much more tollerable. Much less fatigue on the senses.
Oh the joy of all those on ramps. Each one the perfect tragectory for a great VTEC experience.
