Default lowering spring question... which to get?

well, my title says it all,
sorry if this has been discussed before, but the search led me nowhere!
anyways,
like i said, i want to lower my car, NOT SLAM IT... and i'm wondering what's my best bet here?
i have stock rims/wheels for now, and in the future i'm looking toward 18's!
the gap isn't annoying me too much, but i think this car will look better lowered!
for now it clears bumbs and other things well, but i've driven a really low TL for 3 years, so i know how to handle crappy roads and such. sure a few scrapes are bound to happen which will kill me, but whatever it's on the bottom anyways!
someone told me coilovers are the best way to go... I can raise the car a bit or lower it more if i desire!
i know if i use koni springs i'll need shocks too right? if so, won't it be cheaper to just get coilovers since the ones i'm getting will come w/some as well?
i'm not too keen on this whole idea, so please let me know what to do!
i want an even drop all around, NOT A SLAM, and NO RUBBING OF COURSE!
i also don't want to hurt my handling... though some have said the s2000 is built so "correctly" any mod like that will hinder to it's performance capabilities.
thanks for any help
~Tommy

I'm sure others have done it, but I can't see how you could lower the S2000 at all given the little black flaps in front of the front wheels are only about 3" off the ground the way the car is now.

I know for a fact that one local dealership only has one driveway they can drive an S2000 out of right now without scraping up the front bumper.

If you live somewhere with no driveways or speed bumps, feel free, but IMHO you'll be tearing stuff off the bottom regularly if you drop the S2000 any more than it already is...

I did the HKS springs. Looks a heck of alot better to me. Most people can't even tell though. It only dropped it about an inch. It doesn't really ride much different. The S is already considered a bumpy ride anyways. However, I have had to replace my rear tranny mount from hitting a rock then right after replacing that, I hit another rock and bent my rear lower tie bar. But since you've already driven lowered cars, you know the drill. And yes the little black flaps rub on steep curbs. I'd say I'm happy with MY choice.

The little black flaps warn you when you are too low actually. If you hear them scraping then you know you're getting close Until they tear off that is

I use comptech's, love um. I'm down a lot but the perches are adjustible to any height.

You can take the black flaps off. There is just 2 screws holding the front ones on and 2 in the rear. I have a body kit and those had to come off. I have Comptech coilovers and Koni adjustable shocks. I am at a 2.5 inch drop right now and its perfect with my new wheels. I also am running the factory SO2s on my SSRs. I can get over speed bumps fine and I don't scrape at all. I used to scrape with my 18s with lower profile tires. I also have the STB and rear lower tie bar and mid brace. It handles fine in my opinion. A lot of people complained of the Konis being to stiff. That is because they didn't have them at the right setting. My friend has a complete Tein setup and mine feels identical in ride comfort.
