For every "hey isn't that a _____(insert car name)?", I've gotten more "hey that is a cool car, what is it?" and "Excellent! You got an S2000!!"

I too like the stealth factor. One of the reasons I did buy this car was so that I would have a car that very few people would own, most would not recognize the type, and most importantly, those in the know would see my purchase for what it was, buying what I think is the best performance, reliability and image for the money. (sorry for the run on!)

 

Im confused about how people get the chance to ask you any questions at all. When im driving, people just see a red blur. Perhaps they ASK THEMSELVES, "what kinda car was that?"

 

Look, I don't want to sound like I'm completely judging you, but it sounds as though you're definitely trying not to sound at least a little bit vain. EVERYBODY that owns an S2000 has at least sliver of vanity in them. It sounds like it's more than a sliver for you, so just own up to it instead of denying it! Come on ... you're ordering Spa Yellow ... you HAD to have thought "Gee, that'd be pimpin'!"

Maybe you don't understand...but there is a difference between saying "Hey, what kind of car is that?"

And saying

"Hey, isn't that a Miata?"

I'm nothing about image.

 

it's definately annoying but hey...it's your job to correct them and let them know the truth
