thats what i thought, but doesnt make much sense for a car without a top to think that a little filter is going to do anything!!!
guess i have to turn on the air and breathe from the vents!

Actually, the filter works great (for me). Occasionally, during the spring, the pollen count skyrockets and I'm sniffling and sneezing. All I need to do is get in my car with the top and windows up, open the external vents (as opposed to recirculate), and let the air flow. 100% better in a minute or two via S2000. I wonder if Honda could market the S2000 as an allergy-relief solution to compete with some of those anti-allergy drugs ...

I replaced mine with a K&N.

(1) I never need to put down the top, because I get so much air out of the vents now.

(2) I never have to armor-all the dash, cause the volatized filter oil comes through the vents and coats my dash.

If I remember correctly, the micron filter is only used when the a/c is in recirculation mode. Driving top down with the a/c in recirculation mode would clog up that filter very fast.

It's the other way around... only fresh air goes through the micron filter. The recirculation filter is permanent and is just there so it won't suck shopping bags into the squirrel cage!
