Default Might get an AP2...

After doing a bit of reading, comparing and test driving the ap1 and ap2. I've decided to go with the ap2, felt more comfortable for a dd, smoother suspension. Much better torque, and power isn't lagging. The interior is more intricate then the ap1, and lastly the whole exterior looks more aggressive then the ap1.

My only concern is which year of the AP2 I should go with. I have my eyes on the 05's. Im choosing between 04-05, Any issues with the 04 models? Since 04 is when the new model came out, I always believed the first year of the new model were the guinea pigs. And the following years after that, the manufacturer would improve any kinks or problems from that model. Any idea's or suggestions? Thanks!

IMO all AP2's are basically the same until the MY 2006 when VSA and DBW were added.
If you have no qualms about these two features, I'd suggest you consider a used '06/07 and consider the extra money spent as money you will probably spend on other less useful aftermarket stuff.

all 04 models have a TSB/recall where they pop out of 1st or 2nd gear. So you have to watch out for that. only a few 05s are affected.

Huh, didn't know that. Some 04s have a dash rattle associated with a loose nut on the air bag sensor, and some have latch issues covered under the 00-03 TSB for latch replacement. Other than that, no issues.

I'd say get an 06/07 with VSA. Seems like you want a solid daily driver, might as well get all the options you can. But then again, I'm biased as an 07 owner. =P A mechanical throttle linkage is nice for long term future repair work, but I think VSA is worth the additional complexity.

Personally, I always go with the second year of a new model. I sort of consider it like waiting for a service pack for Windows even if I don't see or know of any differences.

Can't go wrong with an s2000 in general though. =) Minor little interior differences. Seats are probably the one thing you'll really notice, the 04/05 have helmet cutouts and the 06/07's don't.

My random two cents.

Consider the VSA.

CKit (I Think) will tell you that you can add traction contol to any pre-06 S2000 for not much money - you may want to consider that option if you want sc and a mechanical control.
