Vincent,

Dont feel so bad... after all your brother deserves a "Wow! it's a porsche" more than you do...
he paid 20k or so for a lower performing car...

I think people do care what others think to a certain extent... some more some less than others...
I wonder if today S2000 was badged Geo (as in Geo Prizm) or Daewoo... would people still buy
S2000s??

Anyways... I'm sort of in the same situation... I'm trying to save up enough to buy a C5 Vette.. and
all I got is... "Why buy an american car??", "A Chevy???", "Isn't it a gas guzzler??" followed by a
strange look... hahahaha...

But if you just put personal enjoyment over everything else, you'll be just fine..

There are sleeze-bag dealers for every make. There are likely sleeze-bag sales people even at otherwise good dealers. Just like there are sleeze-bag CEOs running some otherwise good companies. We're dealing with humans here.

I don't judge a car company just by its dealer network, although that is a factor. But be careful on a forum like this - there just isn't a lot of motivation for people to write about what a great experience they had. One nice thing about owning a Honda - chances are good that you won't be spending a lot of time with the local service department, good or bad.

in response to the first original post... as an 18 year old, i don't think of the s2000 as an awesome car becuase its 30,000... i think of it as an awesome car because, plain and simple, it is... i love my car to death ,but i would take an s2000 on a heart beat... i think people who actually appreciate cars, like the rsx... other people, like the old guy you mentioned just are thrown off by brand name

I wonder. Maybe they would. Maybe the car would help to create a new perception of the companies (Geo, Daewoo). Isn't that how Toyota, Datsun and Honda got started in this country to begin with?

Sometimes the company's image enhances the product. Sometimes the product enhances the company's image.
