After 7000rpm the ECU shuts the AC off.

My wife's 2001 CR-V does this. It's only noticable when the weather is really hot, but I'm sure it does it all the time, it's just not noticable. I think this is how Honda a/c compressors work.

Recirc on or off doesn't matter.

The A/C should get cold and essentially stay that way. If it's warming up significantly, then starts to recool, this is not normal and needs to be serviced.

An A/C system that's over or under charged with freon can do this. There are also mechanisms (it's been a long time and I don't remember the proper terminology) that work to keep the evaporator in the dash board from freezing up. If this is malfunctioning, it can be cycling the A/C compressor too much which would cause the same symptoms.

Take the car in and have your A/C looked at.

Good luck & Drive Safe,
Steve R.

A highly doubt that all these guys with the similar situation here are experiencing a problem with the s2000's AC system. My car is new in terms of miles and so are some of the other cars here as well. With the recirc. setting on full AC, my car blows very cold then for a few seconds blows not as cold. This is a continuous process. I am sure that if you all pay really close attention that you will find yours does the same thing.

36,xxx miles, and cold as ice, never been worked on either.

I would have it checked out, if they dont find anything, take it to another dealer, and so on until someone does find something

I don't own an S yet, but I do own a Honda. I experience the same thing that you guys are talking about. I believe it might be because the condensing unit has it's own cooling fan, so when the fan kicks on it starts cooling better. It works very similar to a radiator fan. They are both controlled by temperature, radiator by coolant temp and the ac by refrigerant. As I said already, I don't own an S, but it may be similar.

Thank you all for such great feedback!

I guess I am not alone with my AC issues, but I am at the point to where it sounds like this is normal......????

It is true that this occurs in both recirculation and fresh air mode.

This is yet another reason to be thankful for such a great site and supportive forum!

Unfortunatley, I think those of us in the sun belt are most affected by this A/C issue. The high ambient air temps in our respective locations help to make the normal cycling of the system more prononced. Try living on the gulf coast with high temps and high humidity levels.
