Check the fine print. I think they mean "rust-through", not surface rust.

Rust is rust. Rust doesn't rest, doesn't sleep. If they don't fix it now, they will spend more time and cost to fix a "rust-through" problem down the road.

It is in their best interest to fix it early.

From the warranty booklet:

"Rust that does not perforate, but is caused by a defect in material or workmanship, is covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. You will not be charged for any parts, material, or labor under this warranty. The decision to repair, rather than replace, and rusted body panel will be made by Honda."

SHIT!! just checked mine its there ....mine is a garage queen never been left in the rain..... hell i dont even drive it in the rain. Time to call Honda

Damn, this is gotta be a defect. 2004 model has rust on it. It is ridiculous!

No rust here...purchased in April '04, not a daily driver and kept in the garage. After looking at it last night, I wonder if during installation of the rubber stops if the paint was chipped off then developing surface rust ??

Yeah.... I got it too. On one side, i can see a very little rust spot and on the other side, I didnt see rust but there was no paint coasted. I am sure I will see it rust very soon as well.
