went to my local dealership yesterday and they said they will fix it - just need to make an appt. at their bodyshop. I also sent Woodwork a pm so that he's aware of this post & issues
Steve which dealer you went to? The service mgr at Boch Honda said he had to send pictures to Honda and wait for its respond before they will start fixing it.

He said it might take three to four weeks.

I could not believe my ears, but that was what he said.

01 Silverstone, daily driver, no matter what the weather.

I am not a happy camper right now.
P.S. No spoiler. Guess this isn't limited to 04s.

Wonder if it has something to do with having a sub in trunk......trunk vibrations could be making the stops rub on the mounting surface...just thinking out loud.

Ok went and talk to my service manager, he said that its most probably due

to the trunk lid bumpers being screwed on while the paint wasn't fully dry

and it scraped or rubbed off what little paint was on there to begin with.

And that its condensation thats forms in the trunk. He noted that i don't have any

leaks because the bottom of the trunk wasnt wet. Now i dont know where everyone

lives but i live in South Mississippi and our humidity is very high most of the year.

So i can see where this would most probably be the cause. So i bought a $ 4.00

bottle of touch up paint and will sand the area and simply repaint it. Hope this helps

Bill

No rust here...purchased in April '04, not a daily driver and kept in the garage. After looking at it last night, I wonder if during installation of the rubber stops if the paint was chipped off then developing surface rust ??
And yes Jay you are correct...sorry i missed your post

If it doesn't work, I think we need to buy CF trunk lids then

Wow, You guys freaked me out so much I had to go out to the garage and look under the dust cover. Whew, relief no rust.

BTW, For preventative wouldn't it be good if we unscrewed the bumper stop and spayed a bit of lithium grease on that?
