Need your help found a s2000.
Just annoying...Guy has more money than brains....Buys the car, immediately decks it out in top-shelf product (stoptech trophy, Öhlins, toda, LHT kw install) does a few YouTube videos driving the car around, and just sells it. I can’t really judge a man based on YouTube videos but he just seems genuinely disinterested in the simple pleasure of driving cars, instead more concerned with the technicalities and modifying them, but once he’s done all he’s wanted to do he immediately turns loose of the project. I wonder what he sold the CR for. He had a mint silver AP2 before that that he had put some money into as well...
Hey by the way do you guys know why I cannot PM anyone? My account is activated and everything? Is there a certain amount of posts that I need or something? I have over 20 posts.

lol yep, pretty much, standing, and narrating someone else working in monotone.
I'm still debating if I want to supercharge it, If I did, I would likely get LHT to do an 8lb or 10lb pulley instead of the 12lb for an end 325-375hp. I'm actually debating whether to do the fuel pump on my own, or pre-install a Radium Surge Tank before hand if I decide to take it there, because I don't want the "LHT cut your soft top off to get to the fuel pump, and then replace it with glass special".
lol I want to keep my plastic window, because no built in rear window defroster, and the frame isn't made for the glass window, and my rear window/top is perfect and maybe seen a handful of days outside since it was replaced in 2016, so effectively brand new.
If I do take it to LHT, it will have all the OEM parts for install removed before hand, and stored, and the car would be trailered down to FL. I know LHT takes care of their customers, but I want to ensure I have all OEM parts retained.
My biggest hold up about it all, is while I can grab the plug and play ballade Hondata Kpro kit, none of the ECU options retain the immobilizer functionality. Doctronics and Hondata Kpro both retain obdII though... I am really considering looking into buying a RSX cylinder, and a spare s2k cylinder, and modifying it to make the s2k cylinder RSX immobilizer compatible. Not sure if it will be worth the effort though...

Hey what do you guys think of this one^^^ Guy said all 10 of the vins match. He is the second owner, and there is 84k miles on the car. He did install a exhaust and a intake, but has both of the stock items to add with the sale of the car. I don't like the 14,5k price tag, but was thinking of paying 12k?
I'm starting to wonder what some guys are smoking to think they can get a decent S2000 for $12,000.
Look at the console in the photos. Enough for me to pass on the car but the price seems very competitive since prices starting with the number 2 (two) are common even for the AP1-engined cars.

I'm super anal about this stuff too. I made the mistake of buying a heavily modified as my first S2000 and its been almost a decade long process of having to "return" it back to stock. Huge PIA trust me. Worst part is you dont even notice all the little mismatching/missing bolts, clips, broken tabs, etc. until you gain more knowledge of the S2000 and know what to look for. Buy as close to stock as you possibly can afford.
^
That one looks pretty good. He even uploaded all of the autocheck stuff and if he still has the stock parts thats a good sign. Ballade is pretty reputable in the S2000 community too if thats where he had it serviced. The only downsides I can see are the crap mods. Dont let him hustle you by saying that they are "tasteful". If anything those mods should lower the cars value.

Just curious about what prompted you to sell the 2012 Mustang GT? Was it to allow you to pursue an S2000?
The guy in your craigslist ad above won't budge on that price. You'll be lucky if he took 14. You are going to have to pay if you want a nice car. As you get closer to wanting to pay 10k you are going to have to make sacrifices on flaws you will accept and how much it will cost to bring a car up to your standard. Everyone's standards are different. If you have higher standards then it will likely turn out that you would have been better off paying for a good quality car. You have to be careful about noting what needs to be spent to bring it up to scratch. Get the best you can afford as others have said. You might get lucky and get a great car for cheap but the odds are severely stacked against you.
I am into the car in my sig for <10k but that was ONLY because I sold the mint hard top it came with. I was never going to use it because this is strictly a fair weather top down toy. It was worth more to me in cash than taking up space.

Why was the head rebuilt? Only 85k miles, and head was redone?
I don't like that aftermarket parts were used in the head rebuild.
Also, that drivers seat lower side bolster is pretty mashed up. I get that they all do that, but it seems like this one is worse than I've seen even with much higher miles.
Plus a one inch tear in seat? Personally I would rather find a car in better shape with motor never having been apart, even if it had way higher miles.

You are definitely right Steve. I gotta sit down, and not rush these things to find the right s2000. By the way everyone who posted on this I got much love for you guys! Learning a lot thanks to you all on what to look out for.
Smokers car... I'd still buy it as long as there aren't burns. Ask if he smokes with the top up, or even in the car. Just because he's a smoker doesn't mean he smokes in the car.
Either way in a small car like this with very little fabric, Steaam clean the fabric, change the cabin filter, and new car smell bomb the vents.
I'd ask for the intake and exhaust to either be put back to OEM, or excluded from the cost. But honestly ~80k miles, car looks clean. It's honestly not bad of a price. Never hurts to ask for a 12-13 price though.
