trick,

We've pretty much answered the original question. Was there something else you were concerned about?

I saw a shop do this, I just dont have the balls to do it myself. Take the V1 apart. Put the front trumpet in the front of the car.....perhaps those useless side vents, the rear trumpet in the rear diffuser, and the unit under the dash somewhere. I think this is the best way, just too chicken to do it.

Just a reminder for all you guys who want to suddenly have the urge to take apart your V-1....my question is why risk all this for something that may or may not diminish the range of your V-1???

For one, your warranty is totally gone with this setup and if you have multiple cars like I do, then this is all for not....

Yes the install does look pretty sharp but I think a simple pedestal mount similiar to mine or what many others have done along with a remote volume unit and display is all you need.

If you guys want pics, go to this thread:

A couple of points...

First, if memory serves, both trumpets are mounted to the same PCB, so I can't see mounting each in different locations.

Second, hiding the detector is good for a couple of reasons. I don't need to remove my detector when I leave the top down and walk away form the car...don't intend to lose $400 to some moron who has no morals. I also get to hide it from certain law enforcement officials who do not like to see items such as these in use...no need to piss them off more than they already are.
