Does anyone on this board own or have access to an OBD-II scan tool?

I am interested in finding out if the computer will store the Max RPM of the engine.

For example if you were to mis-shift and over rev the puppy a little, would that RPM be stored for the dealer to clear out?

This has not happened to me but I know someone who is very interested in this info.

Thanks

I have a SnapOn MT2500. It, however, does not always show all the same PIDS (data) and codes the factory scan tool does. I guess I could check my car and see if it shows how many times I bounced it of the rev limiter.

I've ordered one of these http://www.obd-2.com and should be recieving it soon. It has the ability to add to the list of codes it can scan for as well as datalogging, graphing, dashboard etc. I'll let you know if the Max RPM shows up some where in the list it retrieves from the car.

Has anybody used this product?

Sounds interesting but i would check it out more because of their description- "The CJ-II is an generic OBD II scan tool"

A scanner that only provides the "generic ob2" data is not very good. The best scanners (oem honda=mastertech) provide all the factory data, generic data plus all the bi-directional controls. The mid priced scanners give you most of the data and about half of the controls.

There is another pc based scanner that looks promising...I'll look up their page and post it tonight.

This is the one I like. I just have to wait for them to get more oem coverage. Looks good.

I'll just have to confiscate my wife's laptop or drag my 1ghz Athlon to work(ya right).
