Any Phoenix, AZ members browsing this thread? Found what looks like a decent deal down there. But can't find any reviews of the dealer. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/ctd/2069690719.html

2007 BB Honda S2000 w/warranty - $15450, 66,158 miles, VIN: JHMAP21417S004701

Would love to get all my research done before flying down there to check the car out.
Autocheck confirms it's a one owner with no accidents.

dammitjim, 2ndTimeAround, thanks for the info! Really appreciate it. The guy selling the GPW in the Bay Area recently lowered his price, but still nowhere near KBB. I'm going to see how close to KBB he can get and then decide whether or not this BB in Arizona is worth pursuing. Thanks again!

Hi all,

just wondering what your thoughts are on this car:

http://www.dickhannah.com/index.cfm?fuseac...iceEnd=&MPGLow=

The car felt pretty solid when I drove it last Saturday, the price seems fair. I am going back tomorrow to go over it more thoroughly and if it looks good it's MINE! They are also offering a warranty up to 100k if I want it.

Hopefully I will be joining the S2ki community very soon.

Thanks

YW, I would expect some paint correction, sun, sandy conditions, etc. It appeared the top needed some TLC (potential UV damage, maybe poor photography). I lived in Scottsdale (neighboring community) for years, battling UV damage on a single stage paint was a bi-weekly to monthly task. With clear coat it won't be near as bad as a vintage auto ss paint.

IMO it is hard to say if it's worth pursuing from out of state. These cars move fast, but winter is almost here, the prices will fall and the movement gets allot slower. I find/see the best prices late winter/early spring while there is still snow up north. I'd also hold out for a hardtop, it seems less subject to opportunistic thieves. (Soccer mom/dad in the big box store parking lot, etc)
Thanks, didn't even know what to look for in those photos regarding the top. First time looking at used cars, will have this thread handy when checking out the cars in person.

Coworkers also told me to try to wait until the middle of winter because 1) no one buys a convertible in the winter, 2) car is 'another year' old. Didn't realize late winter / early spring would be a good time. Figured most people would start getting in the mood to buy at that point.

Anyway, this might sound ridiculous but I'm actually looking into getting a car now since the rainy season has started. I usually commute by bicycle / motorcycle but don't like riding in the rain. I know a convertible doesn't make sense but I did some reading regarding whether or not to consider the hard top and it looks like as long as I take care of the top I shouldn't worry too much about the rain. With that said, if I see a hard top on sale for a decent price, will definitely grab it.

The GPW did drop about $750 since the first posting. Not sure how much lower he's willing to go. Most S2000's I've seen have been over KBB by quite a bit. The one in Arizona has been one of the few I've seen at about the KBB value.

Think I'm just getting impatient / emotionally attached which won't be a good thing when I finally get around to making the purchase...

I'm a n00b at this and going through the same process as you. I guess you should print and have this list ready: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=590849

Other than that, that seems like a decent price especially for a dealer. Right in line with KBB private party too. Didn't you guys just have a crazy storm roll through? Not the greatest conditions eh? Anyway, best of luck with the purchase! Love the Vancouver, WA area.

I just put down a deposit on a 2006 formula red S2K with 21,000 miles in extra clean condition with full Honda Certification including extra 3 year/80000 mile Honda warranty. The price I am paying is $19,700. Is this a good deal?

It's about a grand over. Maybe the warranty adds that but also depends on condition I suppose. I personally don't bother with warranties. I've been to the dealer zero times since I got mine. Of course, you may sleep better otherwise. Good luck on the low miles...it's almost a new car!

Remember original warranty is 36k miles (not sure how many years) but it could still be good.

Decent deal, yes. I paid $16,100 for my 2007, but it was higher mileage (63k) and out of warranty. I felt like I got a pretty good deal.

I would see exactly what is covered in the warranty as well. Read alllllll the fine print there.

Also, the avg miles put on a car (DDd) is about 15k a year. I used to drive a SHITLOAD down to VA and back to NJ and still capped out around 15k mi a year. So this warranty basically would be good til 60k or so. Another thing to think about.
