I just looked at:
1. 2005 silver w/blk interior ~40k miles. Asking price is $16.5k

it was in OK shape. it had a crack in the windshield, aftermarket headunit (didn't like how there was a gap all around), center compartment had a hole cut on the side for an ipod connector but the hole wasn't dremeled, looked more like hand cut.
he didn't even bother washing the car or anything so it was pretty dirty.

i drove it around the street briefly (on lunch break) and it seemed to drive smoothly.

in the end i told him that i'd offer no more than 15k. however, he said that someone else offered 15.5k. so i guess that's that.

The price difference is alot but its newer with less miles plus it won't have those things that are bugging you about the 2005. Do you plan on keeping the car for a long term? you get vsa, dbw and a few other things with 06+. To some that is a make it or break it things.

^^
yeah, that's true.

i do plan on keeping the car a while, unless for reason something happens where i need to sell it. i currently drive an evo 8 so this car is "technically" supposed to be my new daily driver. actually, i still haven't decided yet which is going to be the primary. i just wanted something fun but still in good condition. i am going to be checking out #2 in about an hour and i'm still trying to figure out what to offer him if his car is as good as it says it is.

i was checking edmunds TMW as someone recommended it, and saw that the private party value was about $20.6k. do you guys all agree with that price?

i was originally planning on offering around $19k first.

I just saw the gray 07 with 17k miles and it was pretty damn clean. The owner wouldn't really budge on his price. The lowest he was willing to go was $22k flat. Oh well. Is that price still considered high?

The prices seem to have jump a bit with summer closing it so i would say that seems good if it is in pristine condition. I payed $22500 for 06 with 15k miles i payed more then i should have but it was the color choice and only one in the state that looked new.

Plus it came with jl amp and sub top was in perfect condition. Interior was perfect. So it's up to you weather you feel like it is worth it or not. But i was willing to pay a premium for a perfect condition s2k.

well, there has only has been one s2k so far that somewhat interested in. he doesn't want to seem to budge on his price so i guess i'll just call it quits for now and wait another yr to try to buy one. ;p
