Nope. All of those "modifications" are pretty much just standard maintenance things and incorporated into the kbb price.

Seriously. Why would you think a functioning knock and MAP sensor would increase the price of a car over "average?"

People answered your question previously and I agree:

I wouldn't pay above kbb. And I probably wouldn't even pay that.

The only thing that might add to the value of that car is the semi-new top.

I'd be a little suspect about the valve job on such a vehicle. Personally I'd rather have a s2k that is in good mechanical condition on the original valvetrain. You can only cut so much material out of the valve seats, I'd like to maintain that margin for the future if needed. You never know how good of a valve job your getting either.

I was in the market for a used s2k last month, originally looking for a 2001 and ended up paying a bit more for a 2002. I'm glad I went that route as the 02+ models have lots of little upgrades over the 01's. Not that there is anything really wrong with an 01, but for a bit more dough you can get some decent upgrades by going with an 02+.
What sort of little upgrades does the 2002 model have? Just curious because now I know that price is inflated... Supposedly the valve job was done at the Honda dealership?

Hrm good points. One question.. is it true that S2000s around the 75k mark will have problems with knocking? Sigh, getting a new car is exciting, but nearly impossible to be level-headed with all the excitement.

Why don't you search through the s2ki.com "for sale" forum and see how much cars have sold for recently? That might give you a good starting point.

... as will watching ebay, and cars.com

kbb is a starting point, but your best bet is to watch the trends of actual vehicles.

Again, take your time

I would only buy if you can purcahse for about 1k to 1.2k off the asking price. Also look at Edmunds and KBB for the different used car prices so that you get a better idea on the true numbers. If the car is well kept then its worth it.

In my experience, finding an honest, non-sketchy seller is worth waiting for. If the far seems perfect but the guy is really dodgy, don't buy it. He probably knows something you don't.

Hello. My first post here. Recently sold my 1995 R package Miata which is now on its way to the new owner in Norway. I have been thinking for some time of moving up to an S2000. Moving back up the performance chain a bit. I'm sure you've seen posts like this before. I have been watching and reading the forum to learn of mechanical issues, prices, etc. My goal would be one with a glass window (so 2002 or later, unless replaced) with say 50,000 miles or less. I'm in no hurry. Love to find one in the $12,000 to 13,000 price range. The AP2 might be nice, but a low mileage AP1 at a better price could certainly fill the bill. I have learned of a 2005 with 50,000, one owner, absolutely mint, no problems at $13,500, Any thoughts please? Oh, it happens to be yellow, which would be my favorite color, all other things being equal. Thanks for the insights. I also see 2002 with only about 14,000 miles on it on ebay at 13,000 as an initial bid.

buy it now (unless you have evidence that the car was abused, mechanically over-revved, etc)
