-Official- Is this car worth it thread - vol. 2
All are semi-local (within 200 miles). All private owners. I haven't driven any of them yet, so no hands on experience. Just hoping to prioritize them in order of "dealworthiness" for when I plan to go test drive.
Option 1: '04 AP2, 65k miles, Exterior looks to be in excellent condition, probably around 8/10 based on photos. Interior looks about 9/10 except a bit of wear on driver bolster (expected). No accidents. Completely stock except a somewhat tasteful set of wheels (though I prefer the OEM wheels). Not sure about consumables as yet (tires, brakes, clutch, etc). Clean carfax. Asking $16.5k, but could probably be talked down to $15-15.5k.
Option 2: '03 AP1, 89k miles, exterior looks to be about a 7-8/10, mismatched tails (one with chrome rings, one without) from a little rear end tap in a parking lot. Interior probably 7-8/10. Decent amount of wear on the seats, otherwise in good shape. Stock and honda serviced entire life. Two owners, current owner since '06. Tires worn - need to be replaced immediately. Clutch original and probably needs replacement within 20k miles. Aftermarket stereo, tastefully done and with sub (adds some value for me). Will accept $10k
Option 3: '05 AP2, 82k miles, exterior appears 8/10, interior maybe 8-9/10 (no good photos of interior though). Upgraded head unit, amp and speakers. Had suspension installed, but will come with stock (this is slightly concerning if swap was done by individual, especially if it doesn't receive an alignment), mild aesthetic mods (tasteful) but otherwise stock. All service records. Small tear on the top (patched). Tires new. Clutch probably original. Will accept $15k.
Options 1 and 3 are very similar, but the mileage might seem to make #1 the better deal. However, the stereo does add something for me, and the OEM wheels (vice the aftermarket on #1) do too. Also, #3 has the red interior, which I'd really like to get if possible.
It really seems like the best deal is #2 for a full $5k less, but with the addition of tires and possibly a clutch, I could be looking at close to $12k by the time that's done. Then again, #3 might need a clutch too, for all I know.
Your thoughts? Are these all pretty good deals? I've seen '05s go with <40k miles for $15k, but those deals always seem to be 10 hours driving distance from me and tend to sell within days of listing.
Thanks!

You don't mention the color of the cars. Is that because you don't care or they're all the same? To me color would play a large factor. I ended up waiting it out for GPW as I was set on that color. I would go with option #1 as the suspension swap on option #3 is a bit worry some for me. Getting a head unit or stock wheels doesn't seem like that big of an issue. I'm also more of a fan of the ap2s because I use mine as a daily driver. Like you said, go check them out in person, but to me the most important thing would be how well maintained they were, color and if any performance mods were installed ( favoring none ).

BTW, it seems that all three (with the noted exception of the suspension on #3) are almost entirely stock, especially powertrain, which is probably the key. I haven't driven an AP1 and AP2 back to back to be able to tell if the torque difference is noticeable, but my intended use for this car is 70% local back roads with my son, 30% commuting/around town driving.
A little surprised to see that #2 didn't appear to be the favored option.
