You will need the radio code to reset the radio after changing the battery. If the car dealer you are buying the car from does not have the code you might be able to call a Honda dealership for it. Also, here is a link to get the code if you need it. I have not used the link so I do not know how accurate it is.

Looking at a low mileage 2000 model year S2000 less than 30k miles owner asking $18k about a 5 owner car
Seems pricey at $18K.........

What seems like a reasonable offer then ?

depending on which site I look at I get values at full retail even from a dealer of (at best condition) of $16,4xx high end to other site says just $12k
[/quote]
If you live in California, the most I would pay is 16,000 (I would need a couple drinks and a spirited test drive to convince me first lol). If you live in Florida the most anyone would pay down here is maybe $13,000 especially with that many previous owners. I waited 2 years to find my "ideal S2000" (within a strict budget) and am now glad that I waited that long, I could have overpaid and settled for other s2000's unnecessarily just because its such an amazing car. If you're playing with more than 12k to spend on an S2000, then take your time and purchase one wisely instead of just settling is what I'm trying to get at. I would check listings in other cities/nearby states if at all possible then fly over that way to pick it up and enjoy that ride back!

Edit: I see that you're on your way to purchasing an AP2! this information should still be helpful to a lot of people considering a future s2000 purchase so I'll leave my post up

Absolutely correct passed on the 2000 and passed on the 2007

After driving 3 different cars

Like the gentleman above said

I could tell the 2005 was "the one"

As I mentioned above 1 owner every service by honda dealer avg 3-4 k on oil changes

You could tell the previous owner cared for the car

- such as the car cover in trunk and the overall condition of the car

Don't let someone tell you you can't find nice ones anymore

I'm so glad I didn't stop looking after the second car I drove

Again thanks to all who gave me help here

Talked me down from over paying on the 2007

You indirectly in a sense lead me to the 2005

I look forward to learning from the knowledge everyone contributes to this board

Congrats! I went ahead and started working on the 2004 I was considering as well. The head is off to Comptech and hopefully I have a good car for 12,500 for a very long time.

Could be a pretty solid deal. Looks clean but the photos are crappy when I enlarge them. Carfax indicates it was well maintained and I suspect it was never modded. But you would want to know that. There are no photos of the interior or soft top. Hmmm... Call and ask for some, or better yet go see the car in person. Get a ppi and if this is truly clean, then it looks reasonably priced.

thanks for that link

Haven't tried the radio since changed battery

finally had to park it for the day

edit: looked in the owners manual - previous owner was nice enough to write the code down for me

this is a great driver's car
