Ok but if these are selling for more than listed here, buy elsewhere. If you know someone with an import guy, ask for their number and give them a call. That's AP2 territory in these parts, not early AP1.

I would imagine that any S2000 is bit of a tougher sell in your neck of the woods given the topography. You should be able to buy one of these cars for less where you live, but I'm also guessing that there weren't all that many sold around there to begin with making them harder to find, especially for someone seeking out a really clean car with relatively low mileage.
Alot of them are imported from the states, so you can get a better deal there for sure, however, you won't find that deal at a dealership. Expect to pay at least 30% more even after you talk the dealer down some.
I understand, and I'm guessing that most others do as well, that a car is typically going to cost a buyer more when purchasing from a dealer.
If the buyer has been searching for that particular color combo then they probably realize how challenging it can be to find, especially in nice condition with low mileage (the older these cars get, the higher the "low mileage" figure becomes). With that in mind, I don't think that this is a bad price for a dealer sale.
If these things don't matter to the buyer then yes, there are going to be better deals out there. Buying a used car can be challenging in that there will always be a better deal out there somewhere in the world. You have to be patient enough to hold out for the right car while being knowledgable enough to know when to act quickly on a good deal before someone else beats you to it. There is also something to be said about buying a car at a fair price and having it around to enjoy instead of sitting around waiting.
Fair, I hear you, but to be true to the point of this thread, "is this car worth it" i have to say no. If your specifically the guy you described who's been looking for that specific color combo and stubbornly so turning your nose at all other options for multiple years for exactly this, low kms, clean vins, and your willing to drop an additional 6k to seal that stubborn deal, then sure, maybe. You wouldn't wanna tell the seller your that stubborn for the vin anyways. For all other purposes, it's not, and these cars aren't rare enough to justify overpaying this much otherwise.
See this chart describing how many were manufactured, (just USA, no other LHD markets)
Also the description says new formula red, so that suggests it was repainted. If that's not an error, definitely walk. That's prob why the paint is so clean.

If you look at my initial comment regarding this car, it was based on everything checking out okay (soft top, engine bay, underside of the car). Dealer's make listing errors all of the time. This does not look like a repaint to me. Check the chart you posted once again. I'm finding it highly doubtful that the dealer went to the trouble to also change out the interior carpet and seats. This car might not be absolutely perfect, but it looks pretty solid to me. I'd go take a look at this car were I in the market for an early AP1. GPW does command a bit of a premium, but if things check out then this car is definitely not priced $6K too high like you are implying.
