That price is high in my opinion, prior to 2002 with the plastic window has much less demand. I would shoot for $15-16K if all checks out.

Even $15-16k is pricey. Does it have a clutch buzz? If the plastic window has no haze then its very likely to have been replaced, check if OEM or aftermarket. Check the body panels if they have matching VIN stickers. If not, then the $3-4k premium the seller has added to his price is out the door.

Default Value of S2K

The seller i'm talking to is attempting to sell his 2003 S2K for $4500 however the engine needs a replacement according to the seller. The seller says the spark plugs are warped, wiring went bad, and the coil pack "exploded". I think it relates to this article https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-un...l-pack-732644/ but haven't had the chance to take a deeper look at it. The car is in overall good condition cosmetically, no visual rust. I can't tell the condition of the manual transmission. I intended to bring the car to a professional mechanic but was put off by the condition of the car and cost. I wanted to see what you guys would buy the car for, what the cost of repairs could possibly be, and if it's really worth buying?
Thanks for your valued opinion!

Nah, for like 3k more you can get a decent mileage ap1. If you wana buy it as a rolling shell and throw a k24/20 with full bolt ons and a tune you can have a s2000 that will smash all n/a s2000's. Only way i'd buy that and i'd probably only spend 3k for it if it has a blown motor. But why a k series, K series are cheap, 800 at the junk yard and can easily make 280hp-320hp with around +200 ft-lbs is a huge upgrade from s2k numbers. We make what 10whp from full bolt ons and spend 4 times more? When mine blows im going for a k series lol.

You can't get a decent mileage ap1 for $7500.

Depends which k series too, the good ones aren't nearly as cheap.

So in colorado during winter months you can get a ap1 for around 7-8k with roughly 90-120k miles. Seems like you never bought a motor and if you did you got ripped off. And I can also see you've never been to a you pull and pay. 800 for any k series motor, k20a, k20a1, k20z etc, k24a, k24a1, etc. Doesnt matter which k series it is, 800 bucks they dont classify each motor by their exact make and model. Call one up in your area and the price is around 800. Try and find a solid compression f20/f22 under 3000. I've tried you cant do it. Even ones with fked rings and scored to sh!t walls are 1500-2500. Ill just leave this video here too,

Colorado lookin pretty good right about now eh? I'll dead lift and make my way through 15 feet for a k series for 60 bucks, they weigh what under 300?

Question Worth it?

Hey guys.
Very deep in talks for this S2k here. First time s2k buyer since this will be my first car! I'm being given a deal of $15,500 shipped to my door from houston to chicago. This does not include tax, title and plates. Car has the usual wear and tear on the seats, carpet, trim, and then a couple paint chips around the car. Missing antenna and s2k logo on passenger side only. tires are perfect in the back. Front are 7/32 so will be needing replacing soon. I'm only looking for AP2's and Silverstone or Laguna blue pearl so for my budget this kinda fit the bill but wasnt super crazy miles at all. Clean carfax with no accidents but apparently rear quarter panel shows work has been done which was only noticed using a paint meter and since the vin is not on there. Car also had power steering issue come up but dealer is taking care of it. Should I pull the trigger? Been searching for about 5 months now and really just want a s2k already!

Personally I stay away from used car dealerships. There are plenty of better cars that have come up for sale on this forum and you then know the history, why haven't you bought one here? It looks nice enough, but 4 owners and the mileage would make me move on. Plus as I said the Used Car dealership thing.

Does it come with all maintenance records? That would be a plus.

Good luck!!!

The car certainly looks like it has been spruced up for sale
but I think it is sort of odd that a car would be missing the S2000 badge from
one side and also the antenna if it has been cared for. Especially the S2000 badge
I don't think they just fall off.

Cars with missing badges = poor repair to me. I think I'd keep looking.
