yup an ap1 with 100k miles is like 8k now days in my area lolol
I'm also in NorCal. Things just tend to be pricier here. A lot of private sellers are selling 80k miles + cars for 15k+. There are a few that are 10k but those are all AP1's. I'm specifically looking fort an AP2 and this seems a decent deal considering what ive been finding. However i wont purchase this for anything more than 15000$. I plan on starting negotiations at 13000$
How about a 2000 S2000 with 108k miles with a new precision 5858 turbo setup. Any idea on value range? Body and interior are 8/10 and everything on the car works.
I am interested on this s2000, anyone can give me more info about it
Saw this ad on my local classified today and went to check it out.
It was late at night but it looks very clean under flash light.
I am not very mechanical but here's the spec of
Does any of these raises issue? what questions should I ask?
-2003 AP1 160k km body
-engine Ap2, 90k km
-tein racing damper type n1
-invidia N1 exhaust
-differential 4.7
-enkei nt03
-hard top mugen
I will bring it to a mechanic tomorrow to check out under the hood for no surprise.
I am wondering what's the 4.7 differential?
and are these dampers "high end"? is it more for track or dailys?
The ad mentioned the car has a JDM front clip, check for the VIN stickers and inquire why it was replaced. I could see the lights being swapped out but why the clip? Also find out if the OEM parts come with the car, you may want to revert back to stock one day. Find out if the top is a replica, which i would suspect it is. Good luck.
The reason completely stock cars are always worth more is mods are an indication the PO drove the car hard. The more rice the mods, the worse the PO presumably beat on it without proper maintenance (due to ignorance as much as neglect).
This car has some mods, but these cars were built to be driven hard. The mods seem reasonably well thought out, which is a good sign. I always like to meet and talk with the PO, to see if they understand what proper maintenance is, and what sort of hard driving is actually abuse. That at least gives me a clue if the car is a huge risk or not.
The 4.7 gears are the gears in the rear differential. The idea of this mod is to improve acceleration by lowering the final gear ratio. In other words, at any given speed in any given gear, the car will be at a higher rpm. Our cars make more power at higher rpm. The penalty of course is lower gas mileage and slightly more engine wear over time.
