Hi guys, just recently bought a GPW 08 CR and was wondering what type of aftermarket lower springs would be recommended. I know the setup is great now but I still am not a fan of wheelwall space. Now, I am looking to drop it about 1 inch as I still want to run on factory struts/shocks. I don't want to overcompensate looks for ride pleasure so if any of you guys can recommend springs, (not coilovers- out of my price range), it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I've always been a fan of Eibach. They have a great product and variation from spring to spring has been shown to be excellent. Their Pro Kit 4043.140 should work for you (1"fr / 1"rr) but you might loose a few mm of the drop given the slightly lighter weight of the CR. In any case, it'd be very close. You might call their tech support if you want to get right on that 1" mark. They may have another spring set that would get you back those couple mm...

Yeah, I'm going to run street class. However, my understanding is street class is still a street tire class. I'd prefer to run r-comps.

Does the blinking "peak power indicator" ever get annoying? It doesn't seem to correspond to shift points too well.
I don't see it anymore either when I'm racing, but I like that I can see it in my videos.

Would any Apex Blue Pearl guys be interested in getting some color matched key hole plugs.

I had them for my Laguna and loved them, got ride of the shiney silver key hole. Only the place I orderd from says I am the only person to ask about them in Apex.

This is who I orderd mine from! Less than $20 bucks is what I paid I think.

I'd be interested. I can see where he's coming from though since Apex Blue is the most rare color.

I removed mine. It was colder when I did this one compared to when I did my 2002. This caused a bit more adhesive to remain on the paint than before, but nothing a little elbo grease and citrus cleaner didn't take care of.
I like the look of the S2000 without the windshield tape...had it off on my AP1. However, I'm concerned the look of Apex blue windshield frame against the berlina hardtop would look a bit off. Could you post pics with and without the hardtop if you get the chance?

Glad to know its still painted under there though

Drove down from Chicago to Atlanta in my no-ac/radio. It was interesting. I just listened to the speaker on my mp3 phone. When i put it in the cupholder, the sound reverberates and sounds fuller. I can still hear it well even with the windows open.

No-ac was a bit harsh at times, but I got away with just the fan for a while, then had to go to open windows (70+ degrees with the sun shining right into the car.

My mpg wasn't as good as the last time I drove to Atlanta from Chicago - about 26 or 27 mpg, but my speed varied a bit more (tried to stay at 79 mph but had some stints in the 80's for a time). I got 31 in my AP1 before. I think the aero is hurting mpg, but mpg isn't why I bought the car

Did the evolution autocross school on Saturday. Tons of fun and I really got to work out some of my bad racing habits. One of my instructors was Tommy Pulliam who took 4th in AS nationals last year in sirbunz car (right?).

Took 3rd in AS for the Atlanta region autox today. Beat by an evo (2 drivers)...I want to find out if they were on R-comps though. The car feels awesome.

Today was my first track day with the CR and what a blast it was. It was at USAIR in Shawano, WI. It was cold (41F) and wet for most of the day but the car was fun and challenging to drive. Very different to the AWD turbo cars I'm used to.

Anyway, here's some videos. This was my first time ever driving the S2K 'in anger' so I'm far from driving it perfectly.

This is my second session ever in the S2K (forgot about the camera in my first session) the track was still dry at this point and I filmed it from my front lip mount so it looks like I'm really flying.

Front lip

This is a little later in the afternoon and my favorite angle. It's filmed from the passenger side fender. Unfortunately at this point the track was pretty wet and the tire threw a lot of water and gunk at the camera.

This final one was also on the wet track and is filmed from the windshield. It's amazing how much slower it looks from a different angle.
