I don't know what your price range is, but if I were in your shoes looking to go from a S2k to a sedan, I would be looking at the e39 M5. Having a 400hp V8, 6 speed manual and 4 doors seems like a rare, yet desirable combo to me. The Mpgs will suck, and insurance would be higher than the 7 series, but (don't flame me!) I think the M5 would be an ample compromise between the "S Experience" and a little bit of girth in your car.

Or am I completely off target?

if i had a 4 door and no S i would be bored, but if i had only a s2k it would get on my nerves since you cant put anything in it. Luckily i have both!!! up to you but i bet if you get the beamer you will miss the top down fun.

The 7 series looks nice. What was great about the 740 compared to the S? Excluding the obvious reasons.

Idk for being a huge car, the way it drives.. Its a car to drive to get it. Very amazing car. Thinking about it, the 740iL could be pretty boring compared

Buy the 740i and than be ready to be bored, really bored.

Honestly, since you're considering such a boring car, I have to wonder how you ever came to owning an S. Not being rude but man they are worlds apart.

that car makes me think of the original Transporter. lol. i love the way those 7s look, but i dont agree with you about them being "an experience" its a big car, it drives like a big car. you can tell the s is special from the moment you get in one, the interior wraps you up like you are in a cockpit, even sitting still it feels like you could just toss it around any corner and when you finally fire it up the sound of the engine is incredible.

not saying i dont like the 7, but in terms of drivers cars there really is no comparison between the two.

Agreed. But the reason why I asked about these two cause its now two of my fav cars. I'd rather have a 740iL with a M5 engine/transmission swap over a whole lot of nicer cars. The S2K is winning because reliability, gas mileage, engine.. I mean its such a well rounded car.

yeah i feel that way about certain cars too, mainly the bmw m coupe. i would love to own one and would take one over lots of other things if i could afford it. dont get me wrong those 7s are really cool and would be great for a family car that isnt dull to drive, but the s will get your blood pumping a bit more imo.

If its totaled I'm buying it back, so I am wondering where would I start a complete part out thread? Cause I think I would be parting it out at that point unless someone buys it complete
