Default Opening and closing the roof

I own a 2005 S2000 and I have to manually push or pull the center bar into place each time I put the top up or down. I don't see an obvious fix and wondered if someone would have some advise. If I don't push the bar back when opening it binds and the roof won't go right back and when I close it I must pull the bar forward in order for it to come back into the proper place
