I guess I am just too used to the way Toyota does it (the right way).
No, this is the right way. If you have to lock the car with the door shut, You will have to try very hard to lock your key in the car. Otherwise it would be too easy.

wow. honestly, im at a loss for words here

All my previous cars have been domestics, and in all of them the " on/off " switch only stopped the passenger from rolling their window down, and had no affect on the control over the driver being able to put the window up or down. That's the reason I asked here first, I would have felt awfully stupid if I had gone to the dealership and been informed I'm a dumba$$ for not putting the switch back to the ON position.

All you have to do is pull the inside handle while pushing the lock. It locks both doors.

I had the same problem, however I got lucky. Someone else had posted this question so I got to fix it without posting.

That switch serves no usefull function at all. It only fustrates us when we forget it is there.

I'm having this issue and its not the child safety lock. It's a problem that comes and goes only with the passenger window and only when rolling the window up. There's a clicking sound when the window is all the way down and I push the switch down so there's a signal but when I try to roll the window up by pulling on the switch there's no sound and the window doesn't roll up. It starts to work again after a while. Help what is this? Need new regulator or motor?

See I think in this situation, given that you know your issue isn't the one discussed in this thread, the proper thing to do is create a new thread about your problem, not resurrect a 6 year old one, lol

Anyway, do you have the problem regardless of which switch you try to roll the window up with? Like does it matter if you try from the driver's door or the passenger door? Could just be the switch going back, this would be the cheap easy fix. Otherwise it sounds like you may have a wiring issue or a regulator/motor problem.
