I think I've read here that the softtop assembly weighs about 100 lbs, the hardtop about 44, so you'd save appx. 60 lbs.

Not trying to jack the thread, but searchig hasn't brought an answer to my particular question.

I already have a hardtop for my current S2000, but if I were to buy an '06 (same color) Would I be able to keep my current hardtop and use it with the new car? Were there any changes made that would affect just swapping them out? Can I use the wiring for the defroster from my old car in the new one or do I need to buy a new harness? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I asked that yesterday, and they said yes.

Okay...
Soft top, frame, and motors weight apx 65lbs
Factory HT weighs 44lbs. This doesn't account for the side catchers though... so add a few lbs in hardware.
Yes you can keep your soft top, and if you ever plan to sell the car to any normal human being you should leave it. Although if you want to save 20 lbs over the convenience then go ahead and rip it out. Not hard, just time consuming. The hardest part of all is those factory plastic push in clips.

If you have hand tools and any mechanical aptitude you should be able to handle the install. The HT takes about an hour to install... I spent about 5 hours on mine, but I did gut my ST. I also played w/ some things in the process.

I bought the car for what it is, not the convertible feature... So if I never pulled the top off again I wouldn't

You should have someone help you w/ putting the top on and off, but it can be done alone. I have taken mine off twice now by myself. Awkward is the key word.

Actually, you would save the 65 lbs. Still, it will make the car much harder to sell down the road.
