Problems with my power door locks....
First off: Was there a recall on MY00- for faulty power door locks?
My locks act up more than they should (about 80% of the time) and now its getting rediculous and not to mention an inconvenience. Everything has to be done by either the key or manually. I had an alarm installed on the car when I first purchased it and the locks were working fine. about a year later I started having problems and it just got worse. The Standard keyless entry does not work nor does turning the key all the to unlock both doors at the same time. Has anyone had this problem before and is it most likely to be a mechanical problem or electrical....or both?
Thanks in advance.

oh just in case someone asks, the place I originally installed the alarm, went out of business. So I can't take it there.

you dont give us much to go on...
symptoms?
i burn batteries often. have you replaced it yet?
(no recall for the locks- yours is the first i have heard of, other than a bad battery in the remote).
the dealer should be able to diagnose if its not batteries.

Symptoms? well none, it started acting like this out of the blue, one day to the next...
it's not the remote battery because I replaced it for that same reason. It's something in the driver side door thats broken, loose, damaged that is not locking the doors. If I get lucky it'll work when I pull the handle and lock the driver's side door from inside the cockpit. ahhh! also when it was working fine...it would automatically lock the doors after the engine start and unlock the doors when engine is turned off.
I will take it to the dealer this weekend and get to the bottom of this.

Of all the years I've been on this board, I believe this is the first reported problem with the power door lock I've read. But based on your description of the symptoms ("automatically lock the doors after the engine start and unlock the doors when engine is turned off"), it points towards some modifications done to the power-door-lock control when the alarm was installed. So the first place to look would be the alarm installation.
But one thing I don't understand from your post: "If I get lucky it'll work when I pull the handle and lock the driver's side door from inside the cockpit" What handle is this that you pull to lock the door? Please explain.

I am trying to understand your post, but I think I need a translator.
From what I gather you had an aftermarket alarm installed that controlled the door locks. Using the key in one door lock will not to my memory unlock both doors, only the door you have the key in. So that doesn't really seem to be a problem, it's how it was designed. As for not unlocking when you use the remote, do you mean both doors? or just the passenger door? Either way it could be just an install problem, could be very well that the module has gone bad or just a shitty install (I've seen plenty).

whites2k I talking about the handle that you actually pull in order to open the door (from inside), for us "non power door locks" guys, we have to pull the handle out then push the lock in(only on drivers side). Yes I did have an alarm installed a few months after I got the car (about 3 yrs. ago). Now that shop is out of business. I assume any alarm shop could take a look at it and be able to tell me if its the alarm or not.

If your entering your car and turn the key all the way to the left(past the point where it unlocks your door only) it will unlock both doors.
"As for not unlocking when you use the remote, do you mean both doors? "----yes both doors.
Also my warranty is up and I'm not sure if the aftermarket alarm voids the warranty anyways...

Yeah rateds2k got it.....you see he speaks engrish
Once I'm in the car with both doors closed, then Yes I can simply push the lock without pulling on the handle. Now when the power door lock were working properly, they would automatically lock once the car started, now I have to manually lock the car whether I'm entering or exiting the car.
I did research elsewhere and came to the mild-conclusion that the wiring for the alarm is most likely to blame.
So like I stated my alarm locks the door once car is on and unlocks when car is shutdown. Do S2000s with factory alarm do the same?
