Default Problems post pedal stop replacement

Afternoon y'all,

The other day I found the pedal stop from my breaks broken on the floor mat. I replaced them, and then the same happened for my clutch. The car was undrivable at this point. I replaced the clutch pedal stop, yet the clutch is still acting like it's constantly engaged and I still can't drive the car.

Any help before I have to tow the car to my mechanic would be greatly appreciated!

Do you mean the car won't start? It thinks you don't have clutch pressed?

The stopper is there to press a button on a switch. That switch is what tells ecu clutch is pressed, and lets engine start.

So anything that would prevent that switch from working could be your issue.

But there are TWO of these stoppers and two switches for clutch. One is for cruise (lower one, easy to get to, probably the one you replaced), other is for starting (waaay up there, impossible to replace without removing clutch pedal from floor).

My guess is your actual start interlock stopper broke, and the final fix is remove pedal replace stopper.

But meanwhile all ya gotta do is jump the wires coming out of that upper switch. A paper clip, whatever. Then ecu will think clutch is always pressed.

WARNING, car will then be able to start in gear, and crash into stuff and run people over. Don't let anyone else drive car until final fix completed, new stopper.

Just went through that about a month ago, both switch buttons: clutch and cruise control were gone and in pieces on the floor. I noticed while removing the clutch pedal assembly the master cylinder was leaking and I replaced it. Also you have to make sure the clutch master cylinder bracket to pedal is installed correctly.
Hope this helps.
