before i chime in, im gunna have to say im spoiled...but tryin to get out of it..slowly.
i have a job, decent paying, so ive been paying for all the mods since i started driving.

at 17, my parents bought me a 04 TL, which was automatic, they put 10k down and was still paying 560 a month, im not even gunna go into insureance cause it was out the ass. i wasnt allowed to get manual at that point because my dad didnt want me to get one. i dropped about 5-6k on mods on the car, nothing major, just here and there.

when i was 18, i convinced my parents to let me get a manual car and have me pay for it. it took a couple of months, but i found me a 96 civic hatch 5spd for 1800, had rear quarter panel damage. so i bought it, fixed it up and painted it. now its a sohc turbo hatch all paid for by me.

then i realized that the TL just wasnt for me. and the fact that my parents were paying out the ass for it was stupid, because i drive the civic WAY more than i drive the TL.

so i convinced my dad to sell the TL and let me get myself into an s2k. took over a year to convince him but he finally gave in.(he didnt want me to get into a sports car)

so we sold the TL, used the money left from the car and put a down payment of 10k down and i personally financed 14k. its about 250 a month give or take.

i went from paying for nothing to having at least some responsibility. i was just sick of seeing my parents paying 560 a month for a car i never drive.

insurance they still pay, but hopefully i can take the payments up from them because both cars are mine and they dont even drive it.
i hate the fact that ppl say shit like"that kid is ****in spoiled behind my back".

btw im 19 now.
wow 19 and you have 2 cars. Now thats spoiled and get dohc

That insurance is inanely cheap. Are you under your parents plan or something to that effect?
Yeah its under my dads policies, he has just about every discount available through state farm, along with multiple cars insured through them. That is probably why it is so cheap.

So in other words, you're a spoiled little bitch
This is what gets to me, no respect for the young kids. Some work hard for what they have. Yes a I am 21 and pay for everything, but would love to have my parents pay for my car. Everyone knows you would to.

I would think that a good guideline for car expenses as a percent of total gross income would be in the neighborhood of 20%. I would give car enthustiasts an extra 5% b/c it is transportation and a hobby.

Why are you people putting so much money down? Most investments will beat what you are paying in interest so it doesn't make a lot of sense.

Also please remember that if you live with your parents rent-free with a nicely-stocked fridge every time you get home then your parents are helping subsidized your 'S.' Sorry but that is an unsexy reality of life as is
the gas bill, phone bill, electric bill, homeowner's insurance, property tax, school loans, etc.
