WTF are you trying to achieve by changing the diff? We dont get it....
Both AP1/AP2 diffs are 4.10.

Ok dude.... the diff will not do anything for your ratios. Both AP1 and AP2 have the same ratio.

All the changes are in the transmission.

You will need to change the transmission for the taller 5+6th gear along with the different primary ratio. An AP2 transmission in an AP1 will simulate a 4.27 axle ratio for 1-4 and will be nearly the same for 5&6th.

But you know better than me... good luck with the swap.

Thank you for the clarification, I might not be as adept in mechanics as you.

I thought that's the idea about posting.

[QUOTE=Jasonoff,May 20 2006, 10:11 PM] You may want to do a little more research because you are 100% wrong

AP1 and AP2 both have an axle ratio of 4.10

The AP2 transmission has a different final drive ratio along with 5 and 6th gear ratio.

I'm thinking of the swap as it seems my synchro in 2nd is worn. Grinding going from 1 to 2 at 9K is nasty!.

Any good connections for an AP2 tranny?
I've got an ACT pressure plate, clutch disk and lightweight flywheel and I figure I'll do them both at the same time.

Closer 1,2 gear and taller 5 and 6.

I do a lot of highway driving, and having a taller 6th would be nice.

Has it been done and is it a direct swap?
AP-2 tranny,maybe ???
And you should get an AP-2 windshield wiper motor, too;I get it,that they are much stronger.!!!
