I just had my rear window replaced gratis at 48K+ miles. Unfortunately I have the one technician in the US who can manage to install the thing backwards. It goes back in tomorrow.

As for the 2002, I just took a gander at one that was just unloaded at my dealership. The rear sill looks to be the same part as the 2000-1 cars which leads me to believe that they did no modification to the mechanism, but the window:
  • is more narrow
  • starts further down from the rear-most horizontal support
  • (as has been mentioned) has its base at about the top of the windscreen

What this means is that the rear third of the top (basically the entire rear) is completely wrong. Whereas just the rear-most panel that contains the window is replaced w/ the plastic one, you just can't zip in the glass window. It appears that the dimensions of that entire piece is different (much smaller horizontally and vertically. My guess is that the entire top would have to be replaced.

I seem to remember that several of our members have had their window replaced under a "one-time courtesy replacement", mainly because they raised such a fuss (rightfully so) about it.
