I personally brought my S2K when I had my first child. Worked out fine for me. We brought a 3 row crossover but in hindsight could had work with the existing vehicles that we had at the time, what was a Corolla. Currently I am looking to selling it and downsize to a hybrid vehicle with two young kids. What works for others might not work for you.

So turns out replacing the piston rings would slow/stop the oil burning. Thing is the heads would need to be redone and at that point I’m being told it’s better to just get a different engine due to things in my current motor maybe being bad internally. What do you y’all think? Everybody is telling me to engine swap it.

Hard to say what the best option is without compression and leak down test results.

I would trade in TSX for MDX, search for good used motor ( most challenging part imo) good thing you got 2yrs to do it. And rebuilt the current motor after for future once that motor goes. Good luck, hope the wife/gf/bbmom approved

If you are going for ultimate OE like reliability on your next motor, then try to find a new-in-box short block (people still have them, though none available in Honda inventory from my understanding). They are going for a lot, usually $5-7k. A new Spoon block (essentially a balanced Honda block) is around $8k.

If you are looking for a rebuild and trade a little bit from longevity perspective, InlinePRO OE rebuild is a reasonable option.

^Was hoping that re-release deal had a bunch of new F22 motors.

05 f22 burning that much oil so soon? Was this thing hammered or revved high in neutral very often before it was properly warmed up?

Apparently it was raced and the engine had to be rebuilt and now the engine is failing due to the piston rings letting the oil burn at a rapid pace.

Assuming the engine is a 2004 or 2005 it should drop in. Not sure what mods your car needs to fit a 2006 DBW engine other than the ECU and ignoring the air pump.. Just the engine or the engine-transmission? While it's out a clutch replacement (or at least good inspection) is easy. You know the rest of the drill: compression, plugs, gaskets, scrub the engine bay, etc.

OEM replacement is the best option for longevity and S2000 character - so it sounds like you made the right choice. I've thought a bit about what I will do when my engine finally pops (it should last a while, but it's turbo charged so it *could* go any moment).

I keep coming back to an LS all motor build. I have the luxury or bein gable to keep the car in the garage while I take my time sorting everything out, which may not be the case for you.
