shit tires may mean shit maintenance- who knows, right?

Auctions are a financial game of chicken- at what point will the other guy flinch? How much are you willing to lose if it all goes south? that is a number only you can decide on. Maybe get the VIN and run it.
I'm a bit of a gambler so I'd be willing to risk 9K. Remember, the other guy is in the same boat too.

I can't tell you how many times two or three guys(and gals) get in a bidding war and end up paying way to much. Last time it was a '08 Lexus that had a book of 10 to 12k, they bid it up to 14.9 then you have to add 15% for the auction house then state tax on top of that. That is 5k over book, I got out at 8.5k So get a number you can live with, then DON'T GO OVER IT.

Don't get caught in a bid war. Like it was stated many people pay way too much because they got emotional with another buyer and their pride didn't want to loose. Predetermine what you want to pay and bet up to that, After that get out if you don't win.

Did you get the car or is the auction still down the road? If you don't(or do) get it post some pic's and tell us what it went for.
