So have you made any progress from from the pics you posted last? Seems like you made a good choice having a seamstress do the final stichings. That way you know its good quality.
I haven't really gotten very far. I'm kind of stuck waiting on the velcro to get here. I can't really get a good fitment without it.... I have done some more trimming and structural tweaking. I have pretty much figured out everything except the back window. ... I am going to put a support tube/rod or whatever along the top of the window to keep the liner from sagging, but that doesn't really solve the excess fabric problem- it's bunching. So i think i'm going to have to adjust the angles on the edge of the back window. This means that the liner wont cover as much on the sides, but it will still cover everything near your head.

Can it be used for a mugen hardtop?
I have no idea... I actually might. It would depend how similar the interior of the mugen HT was to the soft top.

I'm tired of waiting on the velcro to get here, so i bought a few feet today. I pretty much finished the front, just a few more things to refine on the next one. Pics posted at the beginning of the thread.

emac, I appreciate your endeavours, and truly hope you succeed!
For more information with the install referring to the german unit. There were plastic u-channels fastened to the middle of the liner topside (side to side). These channels snapped over the circular frame bars that support the vinyl roof. These held the liner up against roof frame tubes and followed the roof line. These worked very well.
The front had 2 or 3, self adhesive velcro pieces that you slid between the front roof metal frame and the s2000 vinyl roof. The glued velcro side was down and adhered to the hidden inside of the metal front frame, with the hooks facing up. Then the liner was jammed(using your fingers) between the vinyl roof and the metal frame(the velcro pad hooks held the front of the liner). The hooks on the velcro grabbed the underside of the liner and held it in place. I had quite a bit of problem with getting this evenly jammed due the the fact the velcro grabbed the liner whenever it touched.
The very back of bottom edge of the liner bottom(below the rear window) was attached using some "V" (or "J") shaped plastic strips sewed to the rear bottom outside edge of the liner. These had to be worked under a trim frame edge that is around the upper back wall of the car's convertable roof well. These were a quite good idea in theory but a BI**H to install because of the location and trying to get my fat body and arms around and behind the roll hoops with the seat and everything blocking the way. Plus the frame trim was very difficult to try to pry the gap open while trying to push the liner channels under the trim because it was a blind view(The well trim was hidden by the liner as I pushed).
The liner also was held against the top frame above the door opening by using several more pieces of sticky back velcro placed along the roof metal edge (above the door/window top rubber gasket).
Finally there were also several "S" hooks that were used to hold the liner to the roof mechanism links near the front and behind the shoulder areas of the seat as side attachments for the liner install.
I hope that this verbal description is understandable.
I also have the rather crude single page xeroxed instructions and sketch that came with the german version of the liner. If you like I could scan the sheet in and .pdf it to you. Just PM me your e-mail address!! (note some of the text has chipped of the instructions while in storage).
Good luck.

Hey, thanks for the in-depth explanation!!! I am pretty sure i understand all of it. The one i'm working on follows the same general design, but I think the front is better- I like the tension it stays under. The back also shouldn't be near as complicated. I won't know if my attachment points are sufficient until i finish the back and i drop the top.

Thanks again!!!

I like the original version better, the new "full" version looks kind of unfinished and baggy.

And I wonder if the partial cover would also prevent soft top tearing (in a good way).

I'm not really sure... i don't know where the tearing occurs, but i guess it's possible.

I should have the finished products sewn and ready in the next few days. I'll post picks of them installed.
