This thread is a perfect example of why I will never buy a used car.
It's funny that you say that, because people tell me all the time how sorry they feel for the next owner of my car. What I never understand is that my car is in excellent mechanical condition, and always has been. I didn't have a single warranty repair before it expired, and the only repairs I've had to do in the 12K miles since then is replace both of my rear wheel bearings. I've adjusted my valves 4 times in 48K miles, changed the engine oil every 3-4K, transmission oil every time I've changed the engine oil, and changed the differential oil every other time I've changed the engine oil. I have also dyno'ed at the top of the charts (amongst other NA S2000s) during our club dyno days.
Where my car DOES take a beating is in its appearance. I only wash the outside every quarter, and the inside every year. However, I did wax it a few weeks ago.
Thanks for ending the razzing (not that you were razzing that much). Basically, I feel that based on the "study and thought" that I've done, I don't think I was wreckless. It would have been wreckless to blindly go out and tow the boat without REALLY thinking it through and / or taking the precautions that I did. That is why I posted the original thread, and even though I didn't quite get the answer I was looking for ... I came to the conclusion I needed. It would work.
The reason that I removed the bumper cover and put the paint blobs on the mounts is so that I could pull the boat out of the garage, check the mounts ... pull the boat across the parking lot, check the mounts ... pull the boat 1 mile slowly down the flat, straight road at 30 MPH, check the mounts ... back the boat down the ramp, check the mounts ... etc. I think that this was about as responsible of an exercise as I could have performed.
I know you asked me to meet up with you so you can kick my ass for having a big mouth but when your fat ass showed up in a neon green string bikini and asked me to tow you, I don't know about that... Dude keep your homosexual transgender confusion shit to yourself next time.

Seems like you did act carefully. I didn't see that post until after I posted. Take care. I look forward to the next crazy thing you attempt. If you plan on jumping over any cars let me know when and where I'll be there!

Should we stand on the top rung of a free standing ladder, play golf in a lightning storm, hook up an electrical outlet when it's live using your teeth to strip the wire, smoke while you're pumping gas, eat while swimming in the open ocean, run with sharp instruments, avoid bee stings by sealing your head in a plastic bag. In general should we avoid safety warnings from people who actually designed the very tools and equipment your using. These warnings come from engineers like yourself. Never never use a safety harness when climbing, just roll the parachute up in a ball, never wear your safety belt, hit the racetrack without a helmet, ignore the lessons that others have learned and have taken the time to share with us. These common warnings are around so that we keep from hurting ourselves or others.
Go tell all of that to Ben Franklin. Where would we be today if no one ever exceeded the limits - probably still in the dark and on terra firma. Obviously you aren't an autocrosser
Yeah, if I saw gernby on the freeway, I'd get as far away from him as possible....on a 35 mph access road - I'd probably make sure I stayed with him so I could see what happened next!
Speaking of AX, gernby, will we see you and the tow beast at the N.TX S2K event on Saturday?
Oh, and you're right - I'm definitely not an engineer (I actually don't think too many women are in that field - not sure why, but I don't know any), but I do some mean field engineering involving duct tape!

I've gotten pretty bored with autocrossing, so I have only attended 2 autocrosses this year. I doubt I will attend anymore this year either since my Victoracers are getting ceramified.
Update: Not only does the S2000 tow like a champ; it can also pull trucks out of the mud like a champ! My friend's Armada got stuck in the mud last night while pulling the boat, so we hooked the ski rope up to my trailer hitch, and I pulled him out. I think Honda should have named this car "SU2000"!
First off ... let me just say that most everyone that posted in the beginning of this thread is a dumb ass. If you want to read some history, and have some time to kill digging through all the BS from said dumb asses, click the link.
Anyway, I wanted to share the results of my towing "test". I have a video of me pulling the boat out of the water, but I need somebody to host it (1 MB). Any suggestions?
