Engineers are notoriously poor spellers. Actually, they are notoriously poor writers too. I would go so far as to say that if you spell well, and write well, then you probably aren't a good engineer.

I was the definition of a "2 percenter" in college. I never even went to a single football game, yell practice, or bon fire. I grew up in College Station, so the whole aggie thing just seemed boring to me.

I am as tired of arguing about this as anyone. What keeps me going is that I'm unwilling to let the thread end with a very technical (yet incorrect) explanation why towing will damage the drivetrain. I am fully aware that my hitch mounts will require constant inspection, but that is it!

I have already sworn to the boat's co-owner (a long time friend of mine) that I will never tow this boat anywhere other than back and forth to the boat ramp. Honestly, I wouldn't have considered it anyway since I would probably get ticketed by the 1st cop that saw me. I am also very aware of the effects cross winds would have on me while towing, but the road to my boat ramp is lined all the way with dense forest. Cross winds are non-existant.

News flash! My source has spotted gernby at his local Home Depot buying plywood. Instead of his poor tortured S2000, he borrowed a friend's Jetta for plywood hauling duty. Here's a pic for evidence...

as for credits, i'm an Actual Mechanical Engineer working with as structures and mechanical systems (hydraulic, and pneumatic systems) for (___) Airlines.
Inertia is just another term for mass when you are talking about momentum. Ever hear of the rotational moment? That's short for "rotational moment of inertia". Inertia has nothing to do with friction.

An Actual Mechanical Engineer should know these things.

Here's my bottom line. Honda says don't tow with this car. Cars have tow ratings. These ratings are for safety reasons. If you're not responsible enough to follow these simple guidelines then if you get hurt or you cause damage to anyone or anything... well like I said before Darwin Award.

When I saw mav's picture of the Jetta, I spent 30 minutes trying to find this picture that was emailed to me a while back of an ENORMOUS girl in a string bikini. I wanted to post it as the "load" that MY sources say mav is towing around in his S2000. Oh well, I couldn't find it.
