Another vote for that it's reasonable. If I was a possible consumer and bought the car and was able to maintain ownership at a lower cost then I would consider that I was doing better than the average. Which is what I think that is trying to show for that area code.

There will always be lower...but I would think that there are also alot higher too.

i think it works for me considering about 1 1/2 full tank of gas per week and i'm looking at 15,000 mpy as they did too.
Insurance seems bit high but i'm sure thats quite accurate price as average.

Unfortunately, that's probably not excessively high.

I added up my annual car payments, annual insurance costs, fuel costs (assuming $3/gal which is higher than what I paid last year but will be lower than what I'll pay this year. ), added $500/yr for maintenance (?) and mulitplied all that by 5 years. I came out to just over $47k.

These are rough numbers and I'm probably being very conservative all things considered.

Ouch! I really need to work on getting the thing paid off!

If you added up all of your car payments, then your results can't be compared to the ones Edmunds did. Their costs don't include the cost of the car, just the depreciation. So if you bought your car for $30,000, then your results are automatically $14,000 higher than theirs because they don't have the $30,000 cost of the car, just the $16,000 in estimated depreciation that the car will experience in the first five years. That $14,000 isn't really a cost. It's the purchase of an asset, so it's not included in the calculation of the cost. So deducting that $14,000 from your figure puts your estimated cost at about $20,000 below what Edmunds says.

When we pay as we go, the money goes a lot further.

I remember those days, and I didn't have a car even halfway as cool as the S2000. One advantage to getting older is much cheaper insurance. I pay less than $850 a year for mine with full coverage. I would say that the average new S2000 owner is over 25 so your high insurance is not the norm for this car.
