S2k off a cliff, you here? (mpeg)
hahaha! You guys crack me up. Everytime I comeback to visit this board I see one of this post where everyone is aton each other's throat because someone crashed their S2k. The question remains, who's next in line? LOL!

Steve, not to be a prick here, but in that same series of videos, shot on the same day, is a clip of that famous white S2K with the red racing stripes passing an SUV across the double-yellow line on that same set of twisty roads.

Well, I've seen the video, and heard the engine note of the car in the video, and unless he's in 1st gear, or unless the posted speed limit for that section of road is 50+ mph, then yes... he was driving like a jackass.
Pulling the video isn't only wrong, it's impossible. It's all over the web, and anyone with even the least amount of searching ability will find it.
You want to know what I think ought to be done with it? It should be posted at the entrance to the juvenile "Street Encounters" part of this forum, as required watching for anyone who wants in to that section.
Why hide the video? It's just further proof that driving aggressively on public roads (street racing, canyon carving, etc.) is for those who have way more horsepower than brain power. If you want to explore the limits of your high performance automobile, I'm all for it. But go do it in a controlled environment... like a race track, a drag strip, or an autocross, for those dumb enough to think that street racing or a canyon run is a "controlled environment".
I'm thankful to hear that neither the driver nor the passenger were injured in the crash. Hopefully, once the driver overcomes his legal issues or embarrassment, he'll have the cojones to let this video be used to illustrate what can happen to you when you think that public streets are your own private playground.

Heh...OK, your points in relation to my comments are well taken.
Look, I know it happens that people get "enthusiastic" on these group drives but there's no distinction in the law between the conditions of crossing the double yellow to pass another vehicle. I'm not going to state whether I thought it was safe to do so or not. I just brought that in to possibly shed some light on the environment surrounding the accident and video in question.
My comments about lift-off oversteer where made by me using my experience in this and other high-powered cars and may or may not agree with the conclusions others had made. I apologize for jumping to that conclusion on my own and saying that it was "reality."
By the way, I hardly see this as dividing our sense of community. There has been relatively little flaming about this and most of the excitement has been about the apparent censorship efforts of those trying to suppress the tape itself. I downloaded all three clips presented on the original site and have them on my computer. I have not posted them publically but were I to do so, I would be hesitant to honor requests to remove them other than from the driver personally or his attorney. You can't stuff the cats back in the bag on the Internet.
Again, I'm glad your friend is OK, as is his passenger.
By the way, you have the address of Bank of America in Irvine for me?

You heard the engine note of which car? The one that crashed or the one that the video camera was in? Maybe he had an exhaust, maybe there were 10 other S2000's on the road and the sound amplified.
Unless the driver meets one of your two conditions, he was driving like a jackass? Who are you to judge?

Yeah, let me hurry up and make that happen for you.

there you go, judging again.
the driver made a mistake. the driver requested the video not be posted on this website. can you guys respect any of that?
