Just found this. S2000 owners do NOT have a monopoly on this kind of stuff. Take a look at the following thread from the Viper forum. At least in this case, the unfortunate victim wants the pics posted and he knows he did a dumbass thing but still wants to benefit his club members by showing a "hard lesson learned". Maybe it'll help prevent someone else from going through the same heartache.

Just one more example of why the track is the place to explore handling limits. A bunch of us S2k track rats have been preaching this....only a few have listened.

This says it all. So how about the facts? It certainly would be educational for all. Pick up the USPA's (united states parachute association) monthly magazine and you will find a section titled "Accident Reports." Definitely a place that you do not want to be featured but a very necessary section for learning what happens and why.

If this video and the story from the driver gets distributed and perhaps saves one person from making a similar mistake or worse a fatal mistake, I would think that a "bruised ego" would be worth it... When things go bad all you can do is take a lesson and say "well next time I'm going to do it this way..." I personally have a masters degree in learning things the hard way Certainly nothing to be proud of... Just happy to have lived this long in spite of myself.

These days my "personal risk management program" includes trying to learn from other folks screw ups. I think that most of the folks that want to see this video are looking to learn something also.

I second that, airsport. I saw this video when the link was first posted here and I have to say that the first thing that crossed my mind was, "That could easily be me..." Being a future (hopefully) S2000 owner, having grown up on FWD cars, and having had no performance driving instruction/experience, there's a lot on this forum that has really helped to open my eyes. That video was just one more reminder of the need to keep my ego in check and get some high performance driving instruction.

Also, I was quite glad to hear that both driver and passenger survived!

To those who have criticized the driving skills of the crash victim...

Shame on you...we all make mistakes. You don't know what happened. He could have run across a patch of oil spilled from a wreck or some gravel and sand kicked onto the road from another car.

To the crash victim...

Shit Happens. Hang in there...learn from this and move on.

Well, somebody leaked my website where I had the videos posted. I've had 4 rather rude people require they be removed.

I guess some people can't see past the shock value of the videos and use them as they should be, as a lesson.

It's really disheartening to think that this situation as degraded to this level. The sad part is that if the person who had this unfortunate accident embraced this board instead of shunned it, they would have benefited themselves and the entire S2k community.

This is beyond silly, and I'm out

Zoinks,

How can someone require that you remove your website? What did they do, stick a gun in your face?
