He didn't make a mistake. He took a risk, and it didn't pay off.
Try reading this forum on a regular basis. There's hardly a day goes by that someone isn't talking/bragging about how fast they drive (in forward/or reverse), spinouts on off ramps, out running cops etc. Do you happen to remember the thread with numerous members bragging about how fast they've driven their S2000's? Take a look at some of the topics and responses, i.e., "I want to VTEC soooo bad", "Do you feel a need for speed" etc. ALOT of people on this forum have been EXTREMELY lucky they haven't met with the same fate. Lets get over the holier than thou attitude and quit being so judgemental and hypocrital, pretending that at one time or other, it couldn't have just as easily been one of us. Personally, I'm willing to wait until I hear what the facts are before making assumptions or a final judgement.

me, a defense attorney? a great one, at that? ok, now i'm seriously offended.

everyone is entitled to their opinions. i have seen the vid and it was very short and in my opinion, inconclusive. i don't know how fast they were going. i don't know what caused the crash. i can speculate but since i'd be speculating, i wouldn't make any firm conclusions.

what i find funny is that people who were there, who were driving that same road that same day, people who saw the accident and know the driver, have not voiced the same opinions nor expressed the same comments as people who were not there.

i didn't call anyone any names, derogatory or otherwise. i didn't say your opinions were right or wrong, stupid or smart, or anything along those lines. how am i judging?

peace, man.

Aw geeeesh! Next time, just leave it up there so that we don't have to surf through these repetitive threads. This is getting OLD!

I may have missed it but I don't recall anyone who was there making any comments at all regarding the cause of the accident. That means either in opposition or agreement with any of the opinions so far expressed. Did I miss something?

It really is a shame what has happened here.... A car is lost, someone had a near death experience, and the learning they had from that experience is being censored.

Just looking at the pics is educational and motivational. I think they should be posted in an official gallery... for all our benefit. For our health, and for our insurance rates.

And BTW... assuming the attempted cover-up was for insurance benefit (ASSUMING), I agree that this is no reason to keep this hidden. Each and everyone of us subsidizes those that have accidents. When we help someone get coverage when it is not legitimate (remember - ASSUMING), then we are stealing from the insurance companies some profits (which doesn't trouble me too much), and stealing some increased premiums from all of us owners (which I do mind).

At the rate my premium is rising, I am often tempted to swap for a car with a better insurance profile. Unfortunately, who would want those cars.

Anyway, be safe, and please consider prominently publishing this video.

I think the greater good is better served by many learning, and one being embarassed - even if it costs that someone in non-insurance costs. Remember... we all get to pitch in to make those payments for them via our increased premiums, and we or our loved ones could be the missed victims of an avoided accident.

The southern CA group feels guilty about this accident and is using their influence to silence the discussion over what went wrong. I can understand why the car crashes at the track event a month or so ago were downplayed, but this was on public roads with NO excuse for pushing the limits of the car. If this was a case of a flat tire, or a stuck throttle, I'm sure that we would have heard about it.

I was not expecting that he would. But I don't think any of us would make fun of the situation. It was a serious accident...nothing funny about it. In fact if you look at the Viper forum thread that Xviper provided, which talks about a Viper spin, you will see a post from the actual driver. And the responses to his post were very positive and supportive. Folks were happy that the guy was ok. I would not expect anything less from this forum.

The video isn't hidden.
Really...then why have some of the folks that have posted links to the vid been sent harassing emails asking/demanding that the links be removed?

[QUOTE][B]
Are there really new lessons to be learned or are people just claiming that's their motivation in an attempt to legitimize their curiosity?

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

...

"I would not expect anything less from this forum."

Those were my exact thoughts .... until this whole mess happened. I see very few supportive people and many holier-than-thou whiners about their insurance rates and every other issue imaginable. The driver WOULD have come forward, but I really doubt it now that you have all been asses. You know who you are.

I don't know why I keep responding to this thread. No one listens to each other (myself included). I don't know why I put myself through so much stress. In the last few days, I've bitten off all my fingernails out of frustration. Thanks a lot guys.

I want to say one last thing (hahahahaha), and that is... you are all making very good points. However, it is very hard to say what applies to THIS situation.. and the fact that not many are really settling down to be supportive of the driver is making it VERY hard for there ever to be any resolution to this. Do you WANT answers? Do you WANT to be educated? Then shut the hell up and be supportive. Just like anything else, if you want to discuss something out on the open with someone, Rule #1 is to NOT put them on the defensive.

So..... for the last fvcking time, COOL IT.

(Or do you want the blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah to continue?)

Anyone around my area wanna meet for some coffee tonight around 6:30 ot 7?
