S2k off a cliff, you here? (mpeg)
Its quite clear that there is no expectation of privacy in what one does on the public streets. Somebody post a link where the vid can be seen. I would like to participate in this discussion with all the relevant facts at hand. Thats what the 1st amendment is all about. This kind of selective editing is very annoying.

If you can give me a good justification as to why the drivers shown in the video seem to believe that the roads are their own personal playground, then I'm all ears. Until someone can offer that justification, I'll stick to my original assessment. Your mileage may vary - and it should. You are entitled to your opinion... just as I am entitled to mine.
Well, I watched the video that altiain is talking about and I thought it was pretty disturbing. We have tons of two-lane twisty highways here in the mountains of Idaho and I couldn't even begin to count how many times I've seen the results of head-on collisions resulting in deaths and/or serious injuries because of people being impatient and crossing a double-yellow line to pass. Life's too short to be taking chances like that which could make it even shorter, especially for the people who are the victims in a crash like that.
I have to agree with Rodney K on that one. Narrow two lane road with plenty of oncoming traffic. The lucky thing is only the offending driver was the one who got his ticket punched. Had he taken out another car we are talking about serious criminal charges up to and including vehicular homicide. Driving that speed on that road is criminally negligent.
Well I'm not going to open my gob (For a change)
but I can't think of a more suitable audience to view that video than this board! That could have had horrific consequences. I'm glad no-one was hurt!

The guy lifted off mid bend which shifted the weight forward. You can actually see the rear left hand wheel come off the ground. He then braked, which is such a natural and instinctive wrong reaction. The dangers of lifting off and braking mid bend have been thrashed out and discussed in numerous threads on this board. In the absence of some other explanation the video speaks for itself and it could happen to any of us any time. This video rams the point home far better than endless threads on the subject. I don't understand what all the aggro is about!
All I know is that on this thread it sounds like a bunch of cats scrambling around and crying, who cares about what if's, why's, who's involved, what group, lawsuits, etc.
As long as the guy was ok.
I am glad I saw the videos they are interesting at the same time scary.
Weren't there pictures of the aftermath? Where are those? or can someone PM them to me?
Do I have to wait for this to come out on You Gotta See This.

From an experience and possible theory of what happened... I noticed there was an X brace below the engine of the S2K. This piece is used to reduce flex from the chassis am I right? A few years ago, I went crazy mod'ing my VW GTi. I ordered a pair of Neuspeed anti-sway bars, different from the X-brace in design I know but a part to achieve similar results-- to reduce flex in the chassis. Having listened to a few friends say that it would reduce roll, flex, and stress to the chassis. I went for the ultimate 25mm front and 28mm rear bar setup. Thinking bigger is better. After installation, my car noticed immediate sharpness in conrnering on flat roads. However, the car was so stiff that everytime I went in somewhat fast into street corners, my rear would guarantee to fish tail out! The feeling was more like the rear catapulting itself opposite to the direction I wanted to go. Anyway one night, while on a group drive to Stinson Beach, I nearly lost my life. I was driving fast and the roads were twisty, often quick up and down bends, towards the middle of catching up, my rear sprang away from me, I braked hard, and the car skidded straight into a tree. Had it not been for the tree and the other side of the road... 'wantone' would now be 'deadone' a 50ft dive into the ocean... The guy who installed the bars for me told me that Neuspeed stated in their ads that the bars were 'FOR TRACK USE' only. In the real world, our cars are designed to absorb flexes, twists and turns. Having those bars on... disaster. So if you brothers here are thinking of sway bars, braces, stress bars etc. Understand that these parts are really meant for track use... Just my 2 cents worth...
