OK, so there's no lawsuit. Possibly an insurance issue (1). Sorry, no sympathy here. Was there a mechanical failure in the car (2)? ---- Then maybe a little sympathy. Was there a medical reason (3) like maybe the driver had a seizure or the passenger had to get to the hospital real fast? ---- Then maybe a little more sympathy. Was the driver trying to avoid hitting a "poor" little animal (4) that darted out? --- Didn't see one in vid but here again, maybe some sympathy. He just plain went into the curve too hot. But if for embarassment (5) because of foolish exuberence, not being able to read the road conditions properly, as in road adhesion or changing radius curve ---- no sympathy here either.
There was no nudity (6), no politics (7), no racism (8) and no busting the chops (flaming) (9) of another board member or the S2000. If it's a case of the "victim" having enough friends here that have enough sympathy due to reason (1) or (5) then THHSSSPPPPTH?.
If it's (2), (3), (4) then

ps. I saw the video so unless it was reasons 2, 3 or 4, then Steve c's reply was still the most relevent. And pulling the video by those that can is well ................... you draw your own conclusions. This vid is no worse than catching "My Bad's" little faux pas on tape (the thing with the tire polish). (Unless he were to try to claim "bad paint" with Honda. )
Yeah, it's all great fun till somebody puts an eye out, right?

I saw the video the first time it was posted(and probably have it in cache) and my first thought was that I am glad the driver and passenger were ok. If the car had landed a few feet front or back, they would have been crushed under that rock.

My next thought was that this could happen during any weekend group drive (it was during an S2000 group drive on a road I am familiar with) and so we should all at least think about the way we drive on public roads.

Those who are preventing the release of this video and are defending the driver are doing so out of personal loyalties, and I understand that. But you all also must admit that the driver made a mistake in judgement which led to this accident.

Yes, many of us did not "buy this car just to drive the speed limit", but we all need to make good judgement, especially on road where weekend traffic, both cars and bicyclists, exist. An earlier video shot on that same drive showed an idiot (white car with ugly red stripes I think) passing on a double yellow, which seemed to prompt a testoterone-pumped driver of the silver car to push harder. Inexperience led to the braking in the turn which likely instigated the spin. I just hope that the driver, and ALL those on that particular drive will count their blessings that they are not all attending a funeral, and reassessing their own driving abilities. You guys in S. Cal have many tracks to choose from. Try getting your speed fixes as much as possible where it is safe. Hopefully that will reduce the instances of such incidents. We all hate hearing about S2000 accidents. I am glad that the driver and passenger came out of it ok. I hope High performance driving classes are in the future for him.

The legal issue was in the club responsable for setting up a meet like this. The other tread , which I could not find on search, has al the info that I needed. I am sorry for my rash behavior but I thought no one had explored this issue. Maybe we should have a legal release document that is required for signup to the page to protect everyone.

From what I have read we can set up runs to our little hearts content and if you make a mistake your on your own. That being said I remove my objection to the video being shown.
I think the victims, ie the driver and the passenger, can still sue the organizers if they really want to even if that's a driver's error. However, since they probably don't want to do that, it is a non-issue. For more about group drive liability issue, you can check out this thread.

My opinion is that for these "NO-PUSSIES" drive, you better make sure the participants are really "NO-PUSSIES", ie they have adequate performance driving experience that they know what they are doing. The group drives in Bay Area recently are divided into two groups: one for the experts and one for the novices. By doing that, you can probably put the right people into the right group.

i just dont understand why you would hold the organizer of the group drive responsible? he wasnt the one driving the car and fell off the cliff. we are all men here and can take responsibilities for our own actions. you want to have FUN?, then you have to be man enough to take the consequences that comes with the fun. IMO. so if he gets a speeding ticket, does that mean that its the organizers falt for leading too fast??? another one of those frivolous lawsuits.

Hmm I have the site on a server that has a very fast connect. As soon as I saw the page, I knew it'd be yanked soon. So i busted out WGET and mirrored the site to my server. I'm still contemplating if I should post the link.

The pics and video go up and come down faster than the stock market.
