The white civic hatchback is HOT!!!. A drop, nice black and good size rims, subtle body enhancements and probably a lot of engine work that would smoke the $h!t out of 90% of S2000's out there starting with mine.
IMO:
- anything that looks like it came out of a cartoonist car dream is RICE.
- A totally stock S2000 painted bright green or purple = RICE.
- An S2000 with gold rims or blue cage = RICE.
- There are soo many ways of expressing the RICE gene. Love it or hate it, we all have it and either show it or flame it. No matter what you say or what excuse you have, it is still RICE.

With the roll bars. What if some one was just scared of the s because it was a convertible and they were afraid it may flip and kill them. I know ppl have flipped them with out anything happening but still it has no top flipping it would be scary.
The s2000 has reasonable safe roll hoops for it's purpose. It's not a Jeep, it is not an easy car to flip. On the track there may be some merit to the additional cage structure but on the street it is more of a liability. I'm amazed at some of the bolt in cages for various cars that make it past the legal departments of these companies.
Who cares? If people want to rice out there cars so be it, its always good to get a laugh every once and a while.
As for what rice is? No idea, whatever I feel is stupid looking is "rice" whether it be functional and thats just my personal opinion.

Maybe it didn't stand for that before, but it's being used as an acronym now.
That's besides the point anyway

i agree 100% with the OP.
ive seen countless cars on here with "Ego Status" mods that look like complete crap. I wont say this is the case with everyone , but alot of people seem to think that because it costs alot, its not rice even it it looks like shit.
however, rice is to be interpreted by the person.

thats my old car. it was making a tad over 300whp when i finally got it running right and IMO it was tastefully done. however, i had my fair share of people calling me a ricer which makes the point. the term is to be interpreted and many people do so differently.

I know im going to get flamed but im ready...
Why is it that on here we flame civics and neons for having crazy body kits and huge wings but when the same thing is done to an s2000 it is applauded?

I apologize if I used your car in these pictures. Please try and keep this thread mature.

civic owners have it harder, imo. there are some out there who are truly trying to make an effort to have their car perform better, but the past decade of "ricer" civics have given them a reputation that they probably will never shake.
I'm trying to make an effort to make my '98 Civic perform better and over a decade's worth of fart cannons and riced-out exhaust kits is making it very difficult to shop for an OEM replacement muffler at a good price over the Interwebs.
