it's easy enough to make a personal judgement on what is rice and what is not. functional or not, blah blah blah...

but i agree with what a poster said earlier about not caring what other people think. it's your car to invest in, so do what you want with it. on the other side of the coin, it's their car to invest in, it's none of your business what they do to it.

i think that some S2K owners see what other owners do to their car and worry about the image those owners give the overall group. well... we can't really do anything about that. it's like unjust profiling of certain groups; in an ideal world, you wouldn't take what a select few have done and generalize it as something the whole group would do. but it's not an ideal world, unfortunately.

civic owners have it harder, imo. there are some out there who are truly trying to make an effort to have their car perform better, but the past decade of "ricer" civics have given them a reputation that they probably will never shake.

it comes with the territory. it isn't limited to Civics or S2Ks, but Imports (particularly from Japan) that are generalized as "rice" the second someone sees a bodykit or whatnot that's remotely flamboyant.

i just want to reiterate, that owners are free to do what they can with their cars and it really IS hypocritical that an obnoxious wing on an daily driven S2K would be "clean" while the same obnoxious wing on a Civic would be "rice," whether it be functional or not.

we just have to deal and try not to jump to conclusions.
oh well...

Just because it's JDM doesn't mean it isn't ugly.

I think we should argue about religion next. Then, we could move on to the chicken or egg coming first discussion. They are probably about as pointless as arguing about this.

Rice is not a fad. It won't go away.

Some neighbors say it's way too loud.

That's only in the morning. You suppose to be up cookin' breakfast or somethin! It

The term rice is too vague. Ppl throw it around like it's nothing...the biggest reason for all the controversy stems from the fact that there is NO definition for the term RICE that everyone agrees with. Yeah yeah...everyone knows it stands for "Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements" or whatever...but what exactly does that mean? Everyone interprets it a different way. The way I see it translated the most is this:

UGLY = RICE
CLEAN = NICE

Regardless if it's JDM, USDM, or WTFDM. But everyone wants a specific definition for "rice". Unfortunately for us, one doesn't really exist since we all use it differently.
