As far as a response to the OP - I don't think s2k owners are hypocrites. I just think that what looks really crappy on a civic, actually looks nice on an s2000. Just because body kits and wings look like crap on a civic (which in general they do)...doesn't mean it's going to be the same for the s2000. They're two different cars. Kits on the civic usually look like crap because they dont' follow any of the lines on the car (doesn't help that older civics don't really have any 'lines' to follow anyway). Instead, civic kits generally try to create their own lines which ends up making it look like the parts were just slapped on the car. I have noticed in the s2000 world that people tend to choose parts that flow much better with the car. It's a function of demographics, aftermarket quality, and car design.

I will agree with the OP on this tho - I've never been a fan how the spoon bumper looked. It wasn't designed with good looks in mind tho

The term rice is too vague. Ppl throw it around like it's nothing...the biggest reason for all the controversy stems from the fact that there is NO definition for the term RICE that everyone agrees with. Yeah yeah...everyone knows it stands for "Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements" or whatever...but what exactly does that mean? Everyone interprets it a different way. The way I see it translated the most is this:

UGLY = RICE
CLEAN = NICE

Regardless if it's JDM, USDM, or WTFDM. But everyone wants a specific definition for "rice". Unfortunately for us, one doesn't really exist since we all use it differently.
It does not stand for "Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements"

It started out as a pure racist term, and don't let anybody say different.

Maybe it didn't stand for that before, but it's being used as an acronym now.

That's besides the point anyway

You just answered your own question...

"Nowadays" and the past are different. Civics have been around a LONG time.

I'll say it again, modding can be for "show" or for "go". Some people "show" their cars. Others track them. Majority use as a DD.

If you're set on hating on that...then what's your point? You asked the question and it's been answered.

With your philosophy, I guess If if I own a pair of Air Jordans I'm "rice" because I don't play professional ball. Or if I use a Lotus Exige as a DD and roll it through the drive through I'm rice.

"high end" is "high end"... it's not crap quality. Call it what you want. However, there are low end parts also available for the S, but there are a gazillion more low end parts for a Civic.

Based on your comments....this thread is pointless...

Cicken had to come first cause something needs to set on an egg for it to hatch

Rice is in the eye of the beholder.

With the roll bars. What if some one was just scared of the s because it was a convertible and they were afraid it may flip and kill them. I know ppl have flipped them with out anything happening but still it has no top flipping it would be scary.

You're absolutely correct. That lambo is Risotto not Rice.
Mmmm....Risotto... That would make it Arborio or Carnaroli rice?

It's all good. I also like Basmati rice, Jasmine rice, Spanish rice, rice dishes like Paella, Jambalaya...

I also like potatoes, corn, and pasta. I'm getting hungry now.

Ricey Civic

Clean Civic

Ricey S2k

Clean S2k

YOU CAN TELL if a car is rice or not, the parts are cheap, the car doesnt flow, the car just doesnt look good "generally speaking". I think the OP is just a little conservative that's all.

Fortunately (on s2ki at least) a "riced out" S2000 isnt so common, and anyway the instant one shows up it's uncanny how fast it will be immediately flamed into oblivion.

In the end it doesnt matter anyway as its all just a matter of opinion, i dont know why i even posted??

and the chicken came first
