A CR is built for the track - Honda ostensibly created it for racing as a turn key car for someone who wanted an S to race in. If you just drive it around town, I wouldn't be surprised if it was called rice, just like any other car with a big wing tacked on to it.

We have discused that even though these things are stock or functional they are still rice. I know this is an extreme but what about a lambo? They have all kinds of ducts and some huge wings and the body is wild. Its stock semi funcitonal half a million dollars but is it rice.

That is part of the cars styling from the factory and everything is functional .Far from rice and a very bad example. You should be punished for that comment J/K

lol I think if your driving around with a non-tracked aero kit then good for you! you now have a personalized Stewie. I know that later on down the road following the acquisition of some extra cash I'll be getting a kit for my stewie and I'm gona love it. I won't be tracking her all the time, and she also won't be my DD, but She'll still look mean as hell on the weekends or when I take her out.

Its all about personal choice, not rice or not. we can all look at a civic and say something or other is rice. but the owner likes it the way it is and thats what customizing your ride is all about. if you were dumb enough to be taken by shoddy advertising and worse quality/perfomance then woops. hopefully they'll learn.

not sure exactly what you don't understand. why people put kits on? or why people don't drive with them?

Demographics. The spectrum of Civics far exceeds the S.

The S is a rear wheel drive roadster, therefore making it a better foundation for legitimate modding. Majority of the aero mods are proven.

The Civic is front wheel drive econobox. Any "high performance" parts added on are assumed to be considered rice. The quality of parts available for a Civic varies drastically. From straight POS to quality parts.

The reasons are obvious.

A widebody kit with fully functional roll bar and racing seats in an S that is used soley for DD is the owners option. The fact is that if he chooses to track his car, it's a legitimate build.

Although an S is not at the top of the performance food chain.... the Civic (and all the many years it's been out) is definately towards the bottom.
Flame suit ON.

That's TOTAL PROFILING.

Anything added to any car, regardless of how much it costs or how "proven" it is is RICE. Anything that you can add to any car just so other people can see it is RICE. No matter how "tastefull" or "clean" the final look might be. RICE RICE RICE.

IMO, if you can only afford (or just like) an old beat up civic that you take to the track, mod it accordingly. Soup up the engine, play with suspension settings, use lightweight seats, etc. Only use body kits for turbos/SC's and wings if your car can achieve more than 120 mph in a road corse or 1/4 mile, or take turns at more than 1g.

If you can afford an S2000 and have extra cash for expensive parts and body kits that look good (in your eyes) but said car would only see public streets, you are a POSER that likes flaunting it's money and bad taste, and eats RICE day in and day out.

Flame suit will stay ON.
