A variety of answers so far, most look like 'do it', so I'm going to play devil's advocate a bit. One thing that hit us over the head like a sledgehammer when our first was born was the increase in monthly outflow. Don't know your financial situation or if the +1 works but daycare costs can be a killer, easily double the current Honda lease promotion. Add in formula, diapers, etc and the money flows out quickly. Also, crazy as it sounds, the earlier you start saving for college tuition, the better. So if it were me, I would look at the financial angle first. If you can swing the extra $$ and it won't stretch things thin, do it, especially since you have other vehicles. But as someone above pointed out, cherish the coming months and years, because they will be gone in the blink of an eye.

Feb 2004 - Bought S2000
Sept 2005- Had twins.
If you both work after the kid is born and you ditch one of the SUV's it will be hard. And IMO, I wouldn't get the S2000.
If you both work and share the repsosiblity of carting to daycare etc, switching and coordinating between the SUV and S2000 would be a total pain in the ass.
My wife quit work after the twins were born, and she carts the kids around all week in the wagon. On the weekends if we all go out together we take the wagon.
When they get older (8 years old) I figure I'll need to buy a 3rd car if they are into different activites and we both need to cart them around seperatly.
Hopefully this helps.

agreed!
You must commute by yourself right? Make the S the daily driver.

i was home on leave when i bought my 01- my wife was like "buy it- we dont have kids- live in the now"- 3 weeks later- she was pregnant. How often will you be needing to take the kid in your car? we bought her a honda passport for our get around vehicle- my car is just my work car.
