Porsche parts are very compatible beyond wheels you can swap engines for all air-cooled models. Drop a 95 3.6 into a 1973 and you have a hot rod you can't beat. An engine rebuild is $10 k so the motive and opportunity is there.
I have yet to hear of this being a problem beyond the rare occaision.
I think the big problem is that the car is a Honda. There are so many idiot honduh fanbois out there that will take anything they can, (a) make a dollar from, or (b) make their car cooler. The cars have been around long enough and are now cheap enough that the young thugs that can't buy a newer car can buy them. That's not a knock on all the young owners, just a sub culture of fanbois.
When it comes right down to it, it's just a car. It shouldn't really matter what happens to it. The other side of that coin is that we paid for our cars with hard earned money. If someone else wants it let them buy it honestly, they don't have a right to what we earned.

cept to me, it's not just a car. My dad helped me pick it out before he passed. He didn't get a chance to even see the car. So yeah, to me it's more than a car, and I know there are other yellow AP2's out there. It just won't be the same if I had to replace it.

Probably not as their parts arent as "interchangeable". I would imagine only people jacking say... Zr1's to put those parts on a standard z06 but how often do you see zr1's nowadays

I hope this doesn't sound too insensitive but that really is an unrealistic sentiment to apply to a car. I assume you'd be driving the car and the car would be at risk everytime you drove it. Attach you sentiments to something more durable and personal that your dad owned. I feel certain that your dad didn't expect you to own this car for the rest of your life. Anyways, these are my thoughts and I'm very sorry for the loss of your dad. It is something that almost all of us will face at sometime in the future. GL
